Duratec dipstick

Recommended Posts

Here is a picture of a dipstick tube made from a soft thin wall aluminum using the standard dip stick. This is on a 2.5 L Duratec, at the top you can see it going in between number 3 and number 4 extension tube on the throttle bodies. You can then access the dipstick from the top of the engine. With the compound curves you will need to corkscrew your dipstick to get it to bend multiple directions.

I did something similar using the stock tube on my 2.0 engine. Then bent the top attachment bracket and secured to the diagonal frame pipe with a P-clamp.

I filled the pan with oil and checked/scored the dipstick reference line
