BeagleGuy78
My 2001 Zetec SV ... As I let off the throttle there is a very annoying rattle that sounds like it is coming from the exhaust. I have checked the rear mounting bracket, the clamps holding the exhaust shield in place, and the flange bolts. I am betting that the exhaust is coming apart inside but figured I'd check here before jumping in to replace it ... Any ideas? Also, if it comes to replacing it ... Can anyone recommend a solid system easily found in the US?
Croc
It will be a baffle inside the muffler - they all do that. Don't know of a US system but the UK Caterham crowd always recommend Raceco https://racecoexhausts.co.uk/products/k-series-vauxhall-and-zetec/

Alfonse
Mine doesn't rattle. It came from these folks: http://www.burnsstainless.com/
Croc
Does that mean definitely time to replace it? No its fine. It just rattles internally. If that bothers you then you can open up the can and either remove or fix the baffle. You will find the sound absorbing packing will have disappeared over time so it will be a good opportunity to refill that anyway. Replacement would be warranted with corrosion or other visual damage that makes it unsightly.
