Hope all are good. Looking for a Ford Racing Alum Valve cover for my Seven project. Part # M-6582-16K

I have a polished aluminum valve cover that will fit, but it doesn't say "Ford Racing" (or anything else) on it.

anduril3019,

Thanks for the info. The Redmond ones look good. I had tried Ivey, they get from Ford which is n/a at this time.

Cheers,

Here are a couple photos of the aluminum valve cover. It's actually a nicely cast piece. It will look a whole lot better after spending a few minutes with some paint stripper. That flat rectangular area on top could be modified by having a machine shop with a CNC mill engrave some letters and/or numbers, or an emblem into it. If it were me, I'd strip it bare and then have done up in a wrinkle finish powder coat followed up by polishing the fins and raised area.

The wrinkle powder coat is what I did with the similar valve cover on the engine for my Lotus 22 Formula Junior engine (shown here after a dyno run). That Cosworth cover was a pricey piece, but appropriate for the engine/car.

That's a beautiful engine, love the intakes! Is the half crown removable?

Do you know if the black rocker cover was used with roller rockers and if there are any internal clearance issues?

We machined a recess for the half crown (1962, in light of the car being a 1962 Lotus 22) into an area on the valve cover that is used, by some, as place to install a fitting for a breather. It's permanently embedded in place. The intake manifolds are plated in electroless nickel (though smudged up a bit with oil in the photo) and are long and curved due to the engine in a 22 being canted over to the right in the chassis to lower the center of gravity.

As for the other aluminum valve cover, I couldn't say for certain if it would clear a roller rocker set up, but it seems pretty tall and roomy. It is essentially dimensionally identical the Cosworth cover on the 22 engine. If you can send me some dimensions I can measure it and check.

The roller rocker question was more out of curiosity, no need to measure. I sent you a PM.

The photo of the cover @Nick OTeenposted is the same style that was on my race motor with roller rockers when I purchased my car. It is sold by burton: https://www.burtonpower.com/parts-by-category/engine-components/rocker-covers-engine-covers.html?appl_engine=Ford+Cross+Flow+(Kent)

I think Ken at Mountune USA is also working on getting a period-looking valve cover, but not sure it's ready yet.

Dingo8,

I see that is a Burton piece and they area available. I have the steel factory one I can use until I find what I want. The Ford Performance ones are back ordered from Ford according to Ivey engines.

Cheers,

I was told by Mountune they would be available "soon". :classic_cool:
