Looking for Pre- S-Type Seat Headrests

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I recently purchased a Caterham 1990 Supersprint 1700, and to get it registered here in Canada I will need to install headrests--which are missing from mine.  If anyone has a pair available, I would be willing to pay a fair price, plus an additional headache fee to package and ship to Canada - I would also take care of all import/export paperwork.  The headrests are for the Pre S-type seats, as pictured below (picture from ebay.)

Thanks for the help!

Mgb headrests may fit and are much easier to find new from moss, used or new on ebay, or local to rebuild or simply check the fit.

Awesome idea. I will definitely look into this to see if it's an option.

Y,

if its any help,

I tried to ID these seats, looking at lots of pictures.  From what I could tell most of the BDR 7s got those seats.  Unofficially,  they might be referred to as BDR seats.

I will be removing one of mine soon for bodywork.  I will look for any labels.  Also, do your seats have head rest post holes?  Many did not.

Thanks for this.  Yes, I've seen these on BDRs before (the Supersprint 1700 and BDR engine options had a bit of an overlap I imagine).  Mine do have the head rest post holes.  Not sure if you also have headrests on your seats, but if it's not too much trouble when you remove the seats, could you also see if you could measure the width, thickness and length of the headrest posts?  That would go a long way to determining the potential alternatives if an original is not an option.

Width= 1.25" / 32mm

Thick= 5/8" /  16mm

Height= 2"

I don't know what it takes to remove it,  but to get it to go back down,  pull the cushion forward while pushing down.

No buttons.

These are the Sir Roger Moore velour specials.  I mostly see the leather versions.
