Silber
Hey Rick, I have a few questions that I hope you could answer for me as I am new to Sevens and Birkins in particular. 1) Was the engine new when dealer built? Or is it a used engine out of a donor car? 2) What kind of engine management does it have to control fuel and ignition? 3) Do you know what differential and/or final drive is in the car? 4) How is it titled? And is the title clean? 5) Is the 203 hp mentioned crank- or wheel-horsepower? Was it verified on a dyno? 6) If I were to make a trip down to Las Vegas in the near future, would you be open to show me the car? (You can respond to this one in a private message if you'd prefer) 7) Did you participate in any auto-x or track events with this car? 8) Where was the car located with the previous owner? 9) Do you know who built the car? Thank you in advance. I only recently started lurking here as I have begun my search for a Seven, and yours is the first that I've seen that is relatively local to me (greater Salt Lake City area). Cheers! -Gregory

rrdusek
Club Member 30 Location: las vegas Se7en: birkin Author Posted just now Hello Gregory, I'll do my best to answer your questions. The engine was a donor from a 2007. I don't know if it was rebuilt before going into the car, or what may have been done internally. It runs very strong. It has Fuel Air Spark Technology (FAST) XIM fuel injection system with their modules for fuel and ignition, and it was tuned on a dyno. I don't know if the horsepower was from crank or wheels, sorry. I don't know the final drive, but the differential is from a Subaru WRX. I have a clean title as an "assembled vehicle - '64 Lotus," and it's licensed as "replica -64 Lotus," SMOG exempt. I am retired and have lots of free time, and I'ld be happy to show you the car anytime. I don't autocross or track at my age, but the previous owner said he did do some autocross on occasion. He lived in Montana and had the car completely built by Tom Carlin at Birkin Direct in Colorado. You're welcome to private message me anytime and I can provide my cell number, if you have more questions, or prefer to talk direct. Thanks for your interest Gregory. philso
Hi Rick Is your Birkin still available? Do you happen to know what type of vehicle was used as the donor for the engine? Will the tonneau, top and side doors fit with the custom roll cage and windshield that is currently installed or do they only fit with the original roll bar and windshield? Are all five wheels and tires the same size? Does your Birkin have a heater? Edited to add: Am I correct in thinking it is painted in metallic green? My first car happened to be metallic green :-) Thanks. Phil Edited August 5, 2022 by philso
rrdusek
yes phil, my car is stiill available, just took it for a blat yesterday. i don't know if the engine was from a fiesta, focus, or what, but it was from a 2007 and i don't know if anything was changed on it besides the fuel injection. tom in colorado built it and he may know. i think the tonneau may fit with the cage, and the doors should, but the previous owner cut some brackets on the original doors and they would need to be re-welded to work. he also built some new doors with more elbow room, but they are not finished and should fit as well with some work. the top will definitely not, but it is in good shape. i have the original windshield and rollbar, and they mount at their original points, as well as the cage. i'm running 195/50 tires on front and 205/50 on the rear, but don't know if the 15 inch wheels are the same width. i would guess they are. there is no heater, but it's not needed as it gets very hot inside, mostly on the passenger side. there may be wiring for a heated windshield, i don't know. yes the car is metallic green. feel free to ask more, or message me for anything. i'ld love to see it go to houston, as that's where i was born and raised. i'm still a texas boy at heart.
