WestTexasS2K
I know that this car is up for sale. So I thought I would post it here. It is a freshly finished 07 Ultralite XR7 that was made street legal. Generally the XR7 is a track only car. It has a moly chassis and a thinner hoodline everything has been mounted as low as possible to get the CG low. The engine is tilted to also aid in the lower CG. These cars are weigh in at about 1100 lbs. This particlular car won 1st place at either Knottsberry Farm or Carlisle which ever is in CA. The owner has had some sudden changes in life and needs to sell the car. There are only 3 of these made to this point so they are a rare breed. I do not know the selling price but the owners name is Al Olseen in San Jose Ca. 408 274 4900. the car is registered in Ca. Another neat feature on these cars is the power pedal adjustment and the drivers seat has powered tilt feature. This allows you to adjust for best visibility for you. I beleive that this car has inboard rear brakes and pushrod front suspension. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/2042219947_grn xr7 int[1].jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1606062899_grn xr7 rr[1].jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/942541231_xr7f show[1].jpg
slngsht
sorry for the distraction, but what the heck is that black thing parked next to the Cobra? http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1606062899_grn%20xr7%20rr[1].jpg
Mandurath
Its on ebay, item #130155705227, buy it now $44,750. That thing looks like it is scary fast! Along with the Series 1 mentioned in another listing, a Stalker (Which from what i can see is a pretty solid deal), and a Caterham R500 there are a few 7's on Ebay right now. Also one calling itself a Diva. It qualifies as a 7 too.
Titus
sorry for the distraction, but what the heck is that black thing parked next to the Cobra? You may laugh, but it is a really wicked car. The whole thing is hand-formed carbon fiber, with a lot of aerodynamic bits formed into the nose (can't see them in the pictures). The builder has made a number of boat hull design implementations for airflow, and I was told the car produces virtually zero drag (for what that's worth). It's based on a 1984 Corvette chassis which has been modified a whole hell of a lot. Still retains the Corvette VIN on the windshield base, and has (if I recall correctly) a turbocharged V8 in it, multiple suspension mods, etc.. VERY mad-max, and a pretty smart guy who's been building it for a number of years. I wish I had taken some pictures of the car - this is about the only one I've seen actually! Oh, and the Ultralite wasn't too shabby either! tom
gjslutz
I like the car, but why is all the induction parts sticking up through the hood? I have seen this on a few other WCM's on the factory site.

Maybe not all the pieces were on the car? The hood area looks finished, but the sides of the car look like there might be an outer panel. And the C4 chassis is pretty, well, shall we say, flexible. gjslutz
That is an example why I don't build cars. I couldn't do much better, I'm smart enough to not to build though.
WestTexasS2K
Gary the whole car is much thinner than an S2k about 4" so the top of the motor protrudes thru the hood. Remember that these were intended for track use. This car is meant to give greater visibility and reduce as much weight and drag as possible. slngsht
exposing the engine like that won't do the drag much good. Wouldn't a hump be a better solution? Still, that's something that can be done after purchase. it's a nice car.
locostv8
The only thing stopping me from buying it is the small matter of $44,750. I am sure I can whittle one up for much less.
RGTorque
my ultralite does not have that fancy "7" grill ... wonder where you can get one.
gjslutz
Loren, the weight is great, but for my use I would like a higher hood, loose the side bars if possible, and some other mods. At the 40K price I would be better off waiting for a S2K. The view over the hood would remind me of my youth (long past) of looking around scoops and blowers. That is too much money for me to buy and start adding from there. I'm sorry I missed that black one in the mid 20's. That would have been a great buy and drive for me. Weather gear & FI along with your rear end mod would have been it for me. I hope to see a few at Run & Gun. That Caterham R500 copy is still sitting in the Portland area, light weight & good HP. I would keep this Birkin I bought if I could get a Podiatrist to reduce the foot size. Paddle shifters for the Birkin?

I don't think so- I saw this car being finished off at the WCM 'headquarters' when I was looking into buying an S2K kit- I never liked the look of the XR7, but this car is more beautiful in real life than it is in those photos. The car was truly customized to the owners specs- a lot of one off fabrication, plus the Honda motor was BRAND NEW. I can garauntee that to build this would cost you at least what he is asking for it! Honestly I think the price is a steal. Just my two cents

Hey, I had a disclaimer on my post! The car wasn't finished - likely won't ever be according to the builder. I think he was going to remake a few carbon panels. Fun project. I believe he modified the chassis significantly, but still has the VIN. tm
tnttim
Having worked extensivly on the brother car to this, I can tell you that they are a very race purpose built car. The cost here is a fraction of the time it would take to duplicate this in components. With EVERY car that is a custom, there are always little 'tweeks' that are needed. I would have to say that if you were shooting to to fill the trophy rack in your spare bedroom quickly, that this is one of the best starts you could get. If you think that the cost is high I dare you to goto a Honda Dealer and price the engine alone. If my memory serves me right the engine is nearly $9000.00 bare. And even doesn't come assembled.
