mrmustang Posted March 24 Posted March 24 (edited) The background: On my 2003 2.0L, 202hp Zetec I'm currently running an outdated Pectel T2 ECU (no longer supported by Borla), along with a set of TWM 4-50mm throttle bodies. Car runs, but not well, have gone through the usual suspects, fuel filter, new 30lb high impedance injectors (Pectel specs only high impedance), new coil, plugs, wires. Currently running a steady 47psi at the fuel pressure regulator, but the car still takes 3-4 attempts to fire and stay running. Cold idle at 1,700rpms and a current velocity flow balance of 10.5,10.5, 12, 6 . Originally it was 6,2,2,4 ,,,,,Without a real manufacturer based support structure out there for either the Pectel ECU, or the throttle body setup, knowing they are over 22 years old, I've reached a certain point where I question spending the time to muck about with it, or just rip it out and start from scratch. The questions: Has anyone had a similar setup, and if you swapped over to the Jervey set up, what was the transition like? What about the mechanicals, are the Jervey's easy to set up and maintain? What about wiring, and ECU replacement? Is this a complete stand alone that just needs power and ground, or do I need to hack in to the existing Caterham wiring harness as the previous owner of my car did when they swapped out the original UK spec'd Rover motor for the Zetec? Or, is there a US based ITB system out there I should be looking at if my early April attempt at working the bugs out fails? I'm in need of a back up, as it is killing me that the car is sitting unused in the garage. Thanks in advance, Bill Edited March 24 by mrmustang
slowdude Posted Friday at 08:27 PM Posted Friday at 08:27 PM (edited) I've been down this rabbit hole for a little bit now; I'm looking to grab ITB's for my car. Note, it is a separate engine, however the mechanic's are the same. For the Jenvey, you will need to adapt it to your car. The engine builder of my car, who has a PhD in something smart, recommends doing some changes to these out of the box. DVAPower website If you scroll to the Throttle Bodies section, you will see what I mean, some bending, drilling etc. There is also the aspect of tuning. I am lucky that my ECU plugs directly into my harness, without requiring any cutting and uses all caterham wiring loom sensors etc. I am lucky in that there is an adaptor to the S3 harness that I have, and the TPS is reusable. Having done it a few times with my ECU, I'll need to reset my TPS, in addition to adjusting injector dwell / pulse width, you'll also need to double check your ignition advance. There are small tweaks which you can do but it requires an understanding of the software. i'm admittedly not great at this, but it helps to understand it. Jenvey should have an adaptor to your harness where you plug it in, you can ask for it. Edited Friday at 08:28 PM by slowdude 1
