achova Posted May 12 Posted May 12 (edited) 1979 Lotus Super Seven Mk4 (Steelbro) – 3051 / Lotus twincam engine nr. 32559. For sale in Seattle, WA - $25,000 (reduced) Drivetrain – Ford Lotus twin cam 1600cc w/ Weber DCOE 40mm carburetors delivering approx. 115hp. 4-speed manual transmission; Spax shocks; Front disk brakes; live rear axle with rear drum brakes. Interior – excellent shape – seats / carpets / dash / gauges all look quite nice. Momo steering wheel. Body – lovely condition with nice workmanship on the bare aluminum dash and cowl and cockpit contrasting nicely with the green cycle fenders and hood. No weather equipment. History: in 1973 Lotus wound down in-house production of the Super 7 and assembly of the remaining cars moved from Lotus to two constructors – Caterham in the UK & Steelbro (Steel Brothers) in New Zealand. Steelbro received ~95 cars for final assembly and production utilizing these original LOTUS 7 engines and chassis continued to approx. 1979. This car is one of the last produced. Caterham on the other hand exhausted stock of Lotus-produced Mk4 chassis and came to an agreement with Lotus allowing Caterham to continue production of the Super 7 under license. Service: Summer, 2025: lithium battery; tires; spark-plugs; shift bushings; front brake calipers; speedo cable. Good value for a very usable classic. Shows ~25,850 kilometers - true mileage unknown. JohnCh Posted June 14 Posted June 14 I've moved the discussion about Steelbro sevens and a one-off S4 clubman to a dedicated thread in the General section. That discussion may be of interest to someone contemplating purchasing this car, but it had strayed too far off topic to remain part of this ad. Apologies to @achova for not catching this sooner.
EdWills Posted June 15 Posted June 15 Hi @JohnCh. Thank you. Much better idea than adding information on to the car in the 'for sale' section. Cheers W.

xwhyz Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Do I ever wish I were in a position to buy. For whatever reason, I find this really cool. Maybe it's a year spent in NZ, or my love for quirky versions of cars. Whatever it is, I love it. GLWS!
