Andy69 Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 (edited) This car is making me feel stupid. The brakes, turn signals, and hazards don’t work. They worked before so I think maybe there is a commonality to the failure somewhere. Bad ground perhaps. But I was going to check the brake light switch and there isn’t one? At least, none I can find anywhere in the vicinity of the brake pedal. Also, there is a switch of some kind on the accelerator that is pressed once the pedal comes fully back but it doesn’t do that, just hangs there and doesn’t press the switch. 1992 Supersport K-series ? pic: Edited September 12, 2025 by Andy69
MV8 Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 (edited) Hydraulic brake light switch like the old VW Bugs and outside the (pedal) box. I think the throttle light switch is some sort of "gas-lighting"? Edited September 12, 2025 by MV8
Alex-Ks1 Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 Look on the master cylinder for a button looking thing with 2 wires ,that will be the brake light switch ,if it has a hyd switch
Andy69 Posted September 12, 2025 Author Posted September 12, 2025 Yeah ok, I saw that and I thought maybe that was what it was. Does it need to be primed or the res filled to a certain point?
Andy69 Posted September 12, 2025 Author Posted September 12, 2025 Wait a sec, isn’t the one on the MC the brake failure switch? Looking up the Lucas pressure switch for the brake lights ( SPB401? ), I see it looks like a pressure switch on the brake distribution block right below the MC.
Alex-Ks1 Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 Check across the terminals with a test light probe , one side will always be hot , press on the peddle the other terminal should lite up . If not , switch is bad or no fluid . The brake lights normally run through the turn signals switch

That might be a BRAKE FAILURE switch , not stop lite switch

Andy69 Posted September 13, 2025 Author Posted September 13, 2025 Broken wires in the left taillight were the cause. Work great now. On to the hazards/indicators 1
