WANTED: Fuel tank for Caterham S3 DeDion fuel injection.
Alex-Ks1 replied to pethier's topic in Parts For Sale / Wanted
Nope what , you don't know how to work with fiberglass. Down loaded a photo and copied it to make a mold Even made the front fenders It came from Tractor Supply. I bought one for 22$. Cut it half, shaped it and mounted it, I sure would like to see what you built from scratch one day . -

It is ,I took the manifold and milled out all of the runners ,opening it up. Them made the plate to mount the carb . There is a manifold on the market for about 375$ but you have to put this goofy riser on it for another 150$ to mount the carb ,and it just too damn high. I did all this for about 20$ I did have to put a hood scoop on it for clearance. I made it from fiberglass matting . I didn't want to spend the 300$ for one like it on line . -

I saw the link for a Gas tank, I made my own ,think I spent 35$ doing it, made it from 1/8 inch T-8 aluminum. Its 19 gals and the top plate for the sender , pick up is 4.5 inch in Dia. TIG welding is not as hard as one would think ,just takes practice. -
I guess there was only 3 CDs , my imperfection

SPCNS (Caterham) registration in the SF Bay Area
Alex-Ks1 replied to Maggie S.'s topic in General Sevens Discussion
Not at all , if I buy parts , supplies I pay sales tax at the store I bought from . If I buy out of state I have to pay that states sales tax and not again in Kansas . Then it's all over .I can't help it if your state screws every one over everything for any reason . There are many Calif license plates where I live and all over Kansas. They had the good sense to escape. Sales tax is by county only, no state income tax , gas is under 2.80$ now .I pay 600$ a year for 2 cars on insurance a year . The Lotus is 350$ a year on a separate policy -

The state only wants to see the bill of sale for the engine ,with matching numbers on engine and paperwork. The state police that inspects the build for safety and all components with safety . Then he issues a VIN on the spot . I take all the paper work to the DMV .Bamm it's done fast and cheap .,a strange law in Kansas is that a windshield is not mandatory, but you must have a wiper .working or not ..how dumb is that . Again the only tax was for the engine I bought . The registration and tag was extra . -
Just finished my 420r build have ride height question
Alex-Ks1 replied to notoriousjje's topic in General Sevens Discussion
When I built mine, it finished out at 3 inches ground clearance under the bottom of the trans, it's the lowest area of the car . I built it the way I wanted it . If I feel there is a bump in the road, I drive over it slow, so far no knocks or bangs . -

Like I posted , the 38$ was for taxes and a vin number ,the state police did the inspection at my shop. And gave me the vin, the DMV charged me for the vin . Took about 3 hours in all -

The 7300$ was a tax .if you gave the DMV any money it was a tax .and for all that money you got a 3$ metal plate with numbers. Wow, what a deal -
