Al N.
I'd like to see more of what Brian is doing on this front...until then, I'd say that Westfield's variant seems to be the most true to the original XI...I read somewhere that a Westfield's panels will actually fit an original. That Kokopelli doesn't work visually for me. It's elevenesque, but not close enough...just my 2 cents.
sparecr
The orginal Westfield XI from the early 80's actually was designed off a real 11 Chris Smith had in his yard. At the time it was to far gone to restore so the story goes he copied the frame and took the molds off the car. The 11 is also what got Chris Smith to start Westfield in 1982. They built 138 11 between 82-86, and of course just recently reintoduced them. There is a good book on the history of Westfield by Paul Robinshaw & Jeremy Buckley. Side note I am restoring his old Lotus 17 at work right now. (pictured on page 13 of the above book)
breezy7
Road & Track magazine has a small bit on the Westfield XI on page 23 of the May 2008 issue and online at http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=12&article_id=6653
11Budlite
Some nice pics of some original Elevens here: http://www.supercars.net/Gallery?cmd=viewCarGallery&carID=3535&pgID=1 John - Very interesting that you're restoring a Lotus 17 at your work. I always thought that the 17 was every bit as nice looking as the Eleven, but if I remember correctly Lotus had some handling problems with the 17 that kept it from being very successful. I'd be interested to see any updates on the restoration if possible. Thanks, Bruce :7drive:
manik
Here is a nice little thread on a Lotus Eleven restoration. Westfield bodywork was used as a guide for the alloy body. http://boardroom.wscc.co.uk/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=3;t=59115 And a nice little alloy-bodied Westfield XI over at Mike Brotherwood's shop: http://www.mikebrotherwood.com/ForSale.html tm

11Budlite
Dave K asked: "Anyone seen a Westfield with a Zetec?" - Well I finally remembered where I saw it: http://www.barons-auctions.com/details.php?lotpath=lots/H289KPE.htm Not a Westfield, but based on a Caterham chassis.
