slomove
Looks like a great trip!! Never been in this area. This was our day ( 2 Caterhams and 3 Birkins) http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/20061001_183402_Malibu061001.jpg You can also fly it >Must have Google Earth installed. Al N.
Very nice to see that some folks are out enjoying their cars. I've been tied up with work, volunteering, and family stuff for weeks. The volunteering is over for a bit, but I've got to whip work into shape so that I can go off to TotD first week of Nov with a relatively clear conscious. Love these sat map pix! We should keep a running thread of them...and thanks for the deets Slomove, good to see the spirit of marque-inclusiveness runs across the country. xflow7
Gert, I've just watched your Google flyover. Looks like a wonderful drive. Your roads look more fun than mine. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/cryin.gifhttp://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/biggrin5.gif I wish the resolution on the GE maps around here was better. It would be a great tool for virtual exploring and blatalogical research.
Al N.
I'm bringing my DV camera to the TotD recon trip Mazda and I have scoped out for the first week of Nov...we'll have to try and do a GE flyover and perhaps sync those up. FWIW, that link does not work for Mac people (at least this mac person). And I do have GE installed.

Like a timeline / play feature?

soareyes
FWIW, that link does not work for Mac people (at least this mac person). And I do have GE installed. Al, Here is how I got it to work on my Mac: Control/click on Gert's link and choose "Save linked file to desktop". Find the file on your desktop and change the suffix from "kml" to "kmz" (I changed it to "maliblat.kmz"). Double click the file and Googe Earth should open with the file in your "temporary places". Highlight "path" and hit the play button. The tour will hopefully play now. I had to download the newest version of GE too. Hope this works for you! slomove
Gert, I've just watched your Google flyover. Looks like a wonderful drive. Your roads look more fun than mine. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/cryin.gifhttp://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/biggrin5.gif Did not want to make anyone envious....but as a matter of fact we have some great roads around here. Probably a compensation for the otherwise horrendous LA traffuck. I love that flyover tool. It is getting pretty close to the real thing. Anther good one >here It is a snippet of next year's PNW2007 tour. Must be first unzipped. Unfortunately the resolution is not yet good enough to see if there are potholes..... slngsht
What am i missing... i have the free version of google earth. it opens the KMZ file, but not much I can do from there...
slomove
Hmm, I have the free version, too. After opening the file you should be able to click the "play tour" (right arrow) button under the "places" pane on the left hand side. That can only be done if full-screen view is turned off. Actually I have to click it twice, once to get to the tour start and one more time to get moving. You may have to adjust the speed setting in the preferences. Make sure you got the latest update. It made a huge difference in loading speed on my machine. Gertslomove2006-10-03 21:43:
