CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) -- The Rev. Jesse Jackson apologized Wednesday for "crude and hurtful" remarks he made about Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama after an interview with a Fox News correspondent.

The remarks came Sunday as Jackson was talking to a fellow interviewee, UnitedHealth Group executive Dr. Reed V. Tuckson. An open microphone picked up Jackson whispering, "See, Barack's been talking down to black people ... I want to cut his nuts off."

Jackson told CNN's "Situation Room" that he didn't realize the microphone was on.

 

"It was very private," Jackson said, adding that if "any hurt or harm has been caused to his campaign, I apologize."

 

An Obama campaign spokesman, Bill Burton, said that the senator from Illinois "of course accepts Rev. Jackson's apology."

At my favorite breakfast place, there is just one rule - no talk of politics or religion. That way a bunch of folks from different places and outlooks all stay friends. You might want to think about that.

The Rev. Jackson has made important contributions, but he simply cannot come to grips with the fact that his 15 minutes were up many years ago. While I have a preference in this year's contest, I am comfortable with the other side, and in any case cannot see a place for vitriol in what should be an educated, thoughtful discussion in the middle of very difficult social, economic, and geopolitical times. I just have to ride the storm out for 6 months more, and can then exhale at noon on Jan 20.

I'm holding judgment for anouncement of running mate since I am not convinced either canidate would serve thier full term.

Give me Liberty or give me death..... I am quite sure this statement means death or that you are a terrorist in the current form of government
