powderbrake
Well it would appear that the forum has given tarheelturbo information on a lot of "insane" choices going well beyond his WCM or Caterham ideas. It will be interesting to see what he chooses, and how insane he finds it.
Mandurath
Hehe I am unsure there is a "sane" choice. The smallest is still a 80 HP street legal go kart.
BobDrye
Probably more like 2nd gear smoke the tires, 3rd gear smoke the tires, 4th gear smoke the tires then pray you can straighten the car out and slow down enough to make the corner http://www.websmileys.com/sm/happy/028.gif Well you must have some really straight roads where you live then. Where I drive, I would never be able to use that kind of power, the car would end up backwards off a cliff http://www.websmileys.com/sm/crazy/481.gif My friend who tested the 350hp SR27 for 0-60 mag described in the article that "power and grip are divorced and not on speaking terms" and "terrifying" and he was being kind compared to what he told me over the phone right after he drove it. And this is a guy who navigates in rally cars going 130mph on dirt roads with trees and cliffs whizzing by with a driver who has no self preservation gene. I prefer a more balanced car, that is why I have always been a fan of Chapmans creations. But to each his own I guess, just be safe In second gear if you make sure that the 7 is planted, you don't really get much wheel spin. I'm not saying that you can't free wheel the tires, but that you don't have to. Turbos are very controllable. At lower rpms the 7 is very civil. Cruising on the road I get over 30 mpg. Sevens are about excitement, and you can't corner to the limit on the street, but you can in a straight line. I like a 7 that can "make point-five past light speed and make the Kessel Run in "less than twelve parsecs". Grey matter is affected by acceleration and the central nervous system is unable to keep up resulting blurred vision!
tarheelturbo
wow.. my little thread about what 7 to go with has really taken off.. and hats off to you guys i have really enjoyed reading through the posts. and there are some very insane cars out there! i love it... to go back a little in the thread i've been getting information on a new ariel atom. and you guys were discussing price... its 65,000 for the base kit NO extras and i priced one out with a FEW options and left the 245hp setup in it.. nothing crazy.. the biggest option i chose was the magnessium wheels and alcon brakes.. and it was 81,000 and if you want to upgrade to the 300hp version thats another 8500 .. so 90k for a reasonably optioned 300hp atom... thats something to choke on!! haha.. don't get me wrong.. they are worth every penny in performance and exclusitivity.. but c'mon!! hahaha and as for me. you guys are just gonna have to wait and see what i choose.. i have something in the works.. it might not start off as the MOST insane se7en.. but give it time.. its gonna be a bad machine.. one i know will bring alot of fun for a long time to come.. i'll post pics when i move on something and get some feedback! hahaha ..
