slomove Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Sorry, voice only in German. But it said the pilot and passenger got out unhurt after 3 hours upside down in their harnesses. Gert
locost7018 Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Holy high wire act, Batman. Screwed up a perfectly good airplane, though. Russ
scannon Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I want to know how they got the airplane down off the wires. Did they just cut it loose and let it fall?
MHKflyer52 Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Very Lucky People. As a side note: There was a guy in the late 1990's that did the same thing at Boeing Field in Washington State while attempting to land. Supposed cause was wake turbulences causing the C-150 to do some uncontrolled aerobatics but I would believe it was just pilot error. They were able to recover the airplane from the wires using a large crane and to my knowledge that C-150 is still flying as it had very little damage from the accident.
spotcheck Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 The elite German engineers need to rethink their design for the electric plane - extension cord is too long.

slomove Posted August 20, 2008 Author Posted August 20, 2008 I want to know how they got the airplane down off the wires. Did they just cut it loose and let it fall? They used a 130 ton truck crane to get it down. Said they did not want to use a helicopter because the turbulence might have knocked it off the cable.

Similarly here...the pilot claimed wind shear or other turbulence got him off track when approaching the air strip but probably he just screwed up. It is just amazing that the landing gear caught it and held up. Normally the guy and his wife would just have become part of the sad statistics. I am not exactly religious but that makes you think about guardian angels. Gert
