I'm really pleased with the BACKOFF XP module which makes the LED strip on the rollbar flash when brakes are applied. I have it wired so that if I put the car in reverse, it will flash. Also if I am stopped and using my handbrake, it will flash. And I have a switch so I can select between the two flashing modes.

I have a similar device from Cadent Technologies and agree that it is very effective. Previously when someone was following me really closely to get a better look at the car, I would have to tap the brakes 3 or 4 times before they clued in and backed off. Now I rarely have to tap the brakes more than once. It certainly seems to get people's attention.

Gawd I hate those things. Some late model cars are similiarly equipped and there's nothing like following a white-knuckler into town who taps the brakes at the merest hint of a bend in the road. I agree that they are very effective in aggravating the folks behind you! Or course in a Se7en, there's less chance that cars will be stacked up behind you in the twisties...

That's why I have one on the Westfield :) I'd rather annoy the brain dead, cell phone talking, latte sipping SUV driver -- and we have a lot of those where I live -- than have him run over me because he didn't notice that funny looking little car ahead had stopped.

I was thinking of trying the BP1 Brake light pulser: It appears to be made by WebElectric products

http://www.webelectricproducts.com/ (you have to search as its a HTML framed page, can find a direct link to it grrr)

as a kit for many cars, but also sold as just the little module, which appears to fit inside most any light.

Anyone tried this?

It does look perfectly simple and small, BUT no size is given.

The BLP-1 model Brake Light Pulser system is a state of the art electronic module that, when installed properly, will provide you with years of trouble-free service.

The BLP-1 is designed to control the center high mount brake light (third brake light), and can be installed into almost any year or model of any car, minivan or truck. The function of the module is to gently pulse the center high mount brake lamp when you apply your brakes.

According to the instructions it is simple to wire in. It is only half as annoying as the signal dynamics backoff. :D

I like the daytime running lights circuit .. I may buy that one to control the bullet lights on my front fenders! I was planning to wire them directly to the ignition .. but I wanted them to work as turn signals too! :D

I bought a BP1 Brake light pulser made by WebElectric products. Its black body is 1 1/2" long and 3/4" wide. It is going on the Celica convertible.

I also bought the Daytime Running Light module which is much larger: 2 1/2" long and 1" wide. I will wire it for the two front torpedo lights on the clamshell fenders.

Just put a similar item on my Stalker. It's called a RearAlert, and does the same thing.

It will pulsate for about 6 flashes before going to steady red. I have a third light from a Chevy Suburban mounted on the trunk lid, so it's about as high as I can get it without mounting it on the roll bar.

Works great, installed it in about 5 minutes and it cost $ 15.00 plus $ 4.00 postage from Ebay.

At $19.75 which includes shipping, the RearAlert is half of what the other guys are charging for their modules and it works with LED strips!
