What sort of driving position do you like

I sit very close to my steering wheel in my seven compared to my normal car (98 WRX) my arms have a good 90-120 deg bend in them, other people I have seen in Sevens seem to sit quite far away with out stretched arms. I quite like my driving position it gives me good feel for whats happening through the wheel, whats others thoughts on their ideal driving position for a Seven. Are there any pros & cons to being closer/futher away.

proper driving position should be close enough to the wheel to have your elbows comfortably bent to give maximum freedom in moving your hands around the steering wheel. I have mine so I have about a 30 degree bend in my elbows.

Is your '98 WRX imported? Didn't think they came to the US until '02?

I don't know what my favourite driving position would be in the Birkin. I need a lowered floor first. I'm not entirely comfortable due to the buffeting. I also have the seat tilted back about 35 degrees in order to keep my Noggin below the optional taller roll bar. The angle of the seating position has compromised the effort and effective pressure on the brake pedal.

You don't get too much of a choice in driving position in a Seven, but like slngsht says it should be rather close to the wheel, with elbows bent. I spent 3 days at the Bragg Smith Driving school, and they had us right up on the wheel, so your shoulders could do the work, not an extended arm. Look at the NASCAR guys, the wheel is almost in their chest.

Mind you in my car there is zero adjustment (original bench seats) unless you put blocks behind the seat back.
