pksurveyor
The Caterham owners manual (Page 21) states the optimum operating water temperature is 110 degree C for track days. Is this applicable to Zetec engine?
yellowss7
Don't know about the zetec, but my Rover water temp sits solidly at 80C even during really hot days while autoxing. Obvioulsy not the same as a prolonged high speed track day. but I thought that 100C is the top end of the range not the optimum. ??? Tom
pksurveyor
My Zetec 147 hp operates around 98 to 100 degree C and the SVT Zetec runs cooler at 82 to 85 degree C.
MHKflyer52
My New BMC 1800cc runs at 167 F or 75 C and has a 165 degree thermostat in it for the time being for break-in and will be getting a 180 degree thermostat after I get some miles on the new engine and change the oil a couple more times. athens7
My motor ran 90-100 degrees Celsius when I got it. After replacing the thermostat with a 180 degree Farenheit unit, it runs right at 80 degrees Celsius, by the gauge. It is much happier at cooler temperatures, according to the dyno charts.
