The alleged "fastest Caterham in the states" is listed on their webpage. This car was mentioned by recent owner, Craig Chima, here a few months back when he noted a desire to sell.

All the goodies, dynos around 270 hp, and at $53K and 2300 miles.Edit:Just advised by owner, via Chris T. that odometer reading of 1200 miles is accurate.

Yes, that is my car, and yes the 1200 miles is accurate. Just don't have a chance to drive it much and am in the process of building a 1800 sq ft shop with which to do restoration and race prep work so I need the $$ more than the car right now. Is the the fastest of all; I don't know. Is it faster than anything I've ever driven or as fast as anything I'd ever want to drive on the street; absolutely. The car is spot-on perfect and essentially brand new. Located in Akron, OH. While I bought the car from Chris (one of his East Coast customers, actually) about 2.5 years ago and he's been gracious enough to post it for sale on his site, anyone interested can also contact me directly at chima97@aol.com for additional details. Fastest Caterham,,, maybe... But I think it a far stretch to say it would be the fastest Lotus style car. Then again you get into that whole argument of what is fastest. "Fastest around the cones?" "Fastest in the Laps" "Fastest 1/4 mile" "Fastest,,, as in just below take off speeds".

Yes, I think the ad limits it to other Caterhams. As to "Lotus style" cars, that really opens up the competition: There are many super developed auto-x only and track-day only cars that are Lotus inspired that wld probably whip it. But I wldnt mind giving it a try!

This is NOT the car from Oregon. I bought it unregistered from Sevens & Elans about 2.5 years ago. As of that time it had done a couple of track days at Lime Rock, but that was it. In fact, it was not quite even "finished" (interior bits, spare tire bracket, etc) when I bought it. It has been registered and occasionally driven in Ohio for the past 2 years.

And, I do not care to debate the "fastest" question and never claimed it to be. Chris T says that it is the fastest he has driven and it is fast enough to scare the hell out of anyone with a heavy right foot. Definately not for the timid. Craig

  • 2 weeks later...

On a TG trip that went thru Akron, I stopped to see this car. It is as represented. Unfortunately it was raining so I didn't get to go for a spin.

Body is basically perfect, much carbon fiber, weighs 1150 lbs. Can rev to 9K. Makes great power above 4K,starts, runs smoothly,as per all fuel injected cars. Has many trick items, like built in lap timer with read outs, per lap on the Stack system, also top speed, etc.,plus tons of other info. THere is a G-load sensor as well as a steering input monitor that records steering wheel position and that info can be downloaded to a computer to a track map and driving style evaluated. Kind of a step up from my '97 Caterham! I must say my car souds better tho!

Engine bay much tidier too. No oil leaks. Can be tuned to make over 300 hp tho is at 267 or so now.

The seller, Craig Chmia, is a long time Se7en fan having owed Lotus 7's (He still races one in the SCCA) as well as a Crossflw, and Zetec Caterham. He has a nice shop and is available to service this car, and its engine, for any buyer, ($60/hr).
