scannon Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 http://www.tamsoldracecarsite.net/TomP0000USGrandPrix64Homepage.html Compare the pictures with what you see on F1 broadcasts of this year's races. Unpaved paddocks, mechanics driving the cars to the starting grid, etc. When you hit the end of the slide show there is a link at the bottom that will take you to pictures of the Texas CanAM race of 1969. There is also a link that will take you to the home page where many other old race car photos are posted.
TheDingo8MyBaby Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 I found that website about a year back and I've probably logged more than 10+ hours on it... By the way - if you saw the video of the ferrari TR250 pontoon fender crashing at the monterey historics YouTube - David Love crashes a Ferrari 250TR at the 2009 Monterey Historics - it's seen worse. http://www.tamsoldracecarsite.net/DavidLove2.html
Kitcat Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 The good old days. I was either at that one or the one the year before, the dimming effects of so much time.... It was a great party and they even had a race:). Mike
DogsBollocks Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Look like what you would see on a delivery van today. So was the Lotus in green and gold back then , I thought the Lotus cols were green and yellow? Some nice hoops and stripe combos all around I wonder when the cars stopped racing in national colours and were able to pick whatever they wanted, guess when the sponsors paid enough hey.
TheDingo8MyBaby Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 The green and gold was brabham. The the 1968 gold leaf livery lotus 49 was the first ever sponsored grand prix car.
BruceBowker Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Maybe it is the "simplicity" but I like the Formula 1 cars from those days far more than those now. Not as safe I am sure but just a cigar with wheels and an engine.
scannon Posted December 26, 2009 Author Posted December 26, 2009 Not as safe I am sure but just a cigar with wheels and an engine. Sounds like a pretty good description of a Se7en.
