I'm begining to think that a crate motor Duratec 2.0l comes without a serial/ID number. The casting model numbers are on the exhaust side of the block down byt the motor mount, anyone know where the correct location of the engine serial/ID number is/should be? There is a lovely flat shiny surface on rear right by the bellhousing that I think would be the obvious location. Mine is blank, but still, the actual location could be hidden away somewhere else.

Cheers,

Hey, Adam;

Do you have any pictures of your new car to share? I'm sure others besides myself are interested........since the 7 community is smallish and tight-knit, any new car on the road is of interest.

Hi Jim, dont worry, all will be revealed in photos and details shortly. The 7 has the Gulf Oil levery but needs some royal blue pinstripes to complete it, hopefully this week and then some photos.

Adam,

I think it was your car I saw at Caterham USA awhile back. At least there was one there with the Gulf Oil livery. Sharp looking car.

I think they might have had an R300 or 400, that was Gulf, but not sure. Mine was the one at British Auto Specialists in Ft. Worth.

Sometime this week once I get the pinstripes on the car I'll take some photos and start a thread in the right place in the forum.

Cheers,

That is correct. Any crate engine supplied through Ford (and actually assembled here in Dallas for subsequent distribution throughout the U.S.) is supplied with no serial or ID number for registration.

Tom. Do you have some documentation substantiating that, I may need it!

You would need to ask (a) Jeff @ British Auto, or (b) the supplier of the engine. AER re-manufactures the engines for Ford, and as a customer, they made it quite clear to us that they do not supply any ID numbers for registration purposes. You only need a receipt for the engine purchase to prove to the DPS department that it is not stolen.
