boss351 Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 I'm begining to think that a crate motor Duratec 2.0l comes without a serial/ID number. The casting model numbers are on the exhaust side of the block down byt the motor mount, anyone know where the correct location of the engine serial/ID number is/should be? There is a lovely flat shiny surface on rear right by the bellhousing that I think would be the obvious location. Mine is blank, but still, the actual location could be hidden away somewhere else. Cheers, Adam
Jim F. Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 Hey, Adam; Do you have any pictures of your new car to share? I'm sure others besides myself are interested........since the 7 community is smallish and tight-knit, any new car on the road is of interest.
boss351 Posted May 30, 2010 Author Posted May 30, 2010 Hi Jim, dont worry, all will be revealed in photos and details shortly. The 7 has the Gulf Oil levery but needs some royal blue pinstripes to complete it, hopefully this week and then some photos. Adam
scannon Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 Adam, I think it was your car I saw at Caterham USA awhile back. At least there was one there with the Gulf Oil livery. Sharp looking car.
boss351 Posted May 31, 2010 Author Posted May 31, 2010 I think they might have had an R300 or 400, that was Gulf, but not sure. Mine was the one at British Auto Specialists in Ft. Worth. Sometime this week once I get the pinstripes on the car I'll take some photos and start a thread in the right place in the forum. Cheers, Adam
pksurveyor Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 The Gulf color at Caterham USA is the R500 as published in the latest Road and Track magazine.
Croc Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 I believe this is the car here: http://www.britauto.net/page2/page17/page17.html I am a sucker for this paint job. Jeff builds a nice car.
boss351 Posted June 1, 2010 Author Posted June 1, 2010 Yes, thats my car! Pin stripes and harnesses (and license plate) to complete.
manik Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I'm begining to think that a crate motor Duratec 2.0l comes without a serial/ID number. That is correct. Any crate engine supplied through Ford (and actually assembled here in Dallas for subsequent distribution throughout the U.S.) is supplied with no serial or ID number for registration. tom
boss351 Posted June 1, 2010 Author Posted June 1, 2010 Tom. Do you have some documentation substantiating that, I may need it! Adam
manik Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Tom. Do you have some documentation substantiating that, I may need it! Adam You would need to ask (a) Jeff @ British Auto, or (b) the supplier of the engine. AER re-manufactures the engines for Ford, and as a customer, they made it quite clear to us that they do not supply any ID numbers for registration purposes. You only need a receipt for the engine purchase to prove to the DPS department that it is not stolen. tom
