seat belts

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

My car has 4 point racing belts

Hip belts are brutal to adjust due to the at floor buckle adjustment

I got the driver done

I will have all sizes of passengers (I've got lots of neighbors)

do you guys have any recommended belts

Key factors are safety and ease of adjustment

Thanks

I use Schroths with their Flexi-Belt option which allows you to change the belt configuration from pull-up to pull-down, and also move the position of the adjuster. My passenger lap belts are configured as pull-up since it is easier to adjust from outside the car – simply loosen them up before someone gets in and then once they're seated, pull up on the belts. I prefer the pull-down configuration for the driver’s side since the excess lap belts lay a little flatter (they are pointed in opposite directions, rather than towards each other as they do in pull-up mode).

4 point for both you and passengers?

MAybe my belts are crap, but the adjustment for the lap part is right down next to the bolt behind the seat and is a total pig to get at.

I run 4-point on both sides, but have Schroth's ASM belts which are the only 4-point system I trust. I had planned to add a sub-belt as well, but never got around to it. You can learn more about ASM and the Flexi-Belt here.

In the photo below, I've circled the adjuster buckles in green so you can see where they sit.

  • 2 weeks later...

I use the 3 point belt system the car came with for passengers with a supplemental lap belt that is easy to adjust.

I have a 5 point system for my self and, I gotta say, the crotch strap is a pain in the crotch. In addition to adjusting it, I have to adjust certain body parts, a bit dicey in mixed company or out in public.
