glenntwincam Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 today, while prepping car for our trips to watkins glen vintage & LOG. I noticed rubber caps on intake manifold vacuum ports just below throttle body, were starting to split , it's a svt , but every engine usually has vacuum ports that are capped . easy to fix , bought assortment at napa for $5 . if the cap comes off . you have a instant & large vacuum leak. just another thing to check next time you have the bonnet off.
Taber10 Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Plus one on that! Driving my brand new 2007 Caterham 7 SV from RMSC, Inc. home to Fla, I had problems in Alabama, about two hours from home. It seems that one of the caps had come off/been knocked off-lots of people were looking under the bonnet the whole way home. Ran fine at speed, but wouldn't idle at all. I was very relieved to find the problem and fix it for a couple bucks--package of caps and package of twist ties--which are still in the boot now nearly three years later!
Dave W Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I would suggest that you put a little RTV on the I.D. of the cap, before installing it. I had a cap blow off from a back fire. Since adding the RTV, I have not had any problems. Dave W
