slngsht Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 "suprising v-tec power and handleing over the apparant superior track car" http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/lol.gif YouTube Video
Mike Rohaley Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Since the Caterham driver was crossing the center line frequently through corners it is safe to say that he was "trying" to drive fast. However, it just appears that he may not be a great driver. Put my grammy in a Ferrari F40 and she will not become Mario Andretti.
stevet Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 I know these roads, I used to drive these roads - classic narrow British coutry roads through farmland and small villages. It's not easy being the lead dog on these roads - sightlines are not good, other traffic is slow (note the tractor), and there are a lot of small, unmarked entries close to the road. It's much easier to follow someone at speed. The 7 driver is crossing the white line to prevent the other driver trying to overtake - you'll notice another car comes through every time after he does it - he's trying to prevent an accident IMHO. It's also possible you have a 'gentleman driver' here being chased down by a couple of hooligans in what we in the UK seven community used to refer to as an "RS Turbo Nutter Bastard'. Excuse my French.
slngsht Posted February 19, 2007 Author Posted February 19, 2007 I like the "suprising v-tec power and handleing over the apparant superior track car" better than both your explanations. It's much more entertaining. BTW, I'm not making that up, if you go to the YouTube page, that's what the owner of the vid actually says. Reminds me of a thread a while back with vid of a guy in a mustang GT on the autobahn, chasing down a Carerra GT. The whole time he was raving about the power of the Mustang, yet every time traffic would open up, the GT would turn into a little dot.
Al N. Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Reminds me of a thread a while back with vid of a guy in a mustang GT on the autobahn, chasing down a Carerra GT. They're both GTs, right? --- I think Steve's on to the real story here. I have actually never been pursused by an enthusiastically driven regular automobile, should try it sometime with a friend in my TT while I'm driving the Cat. I think that once thing got twisty, the Se7en is bye-bye...moreso if you've got the bottle (and V8 power) of someone like Mazda. BTW, isn't that car a Westfield?
stevet Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Al, I think it's a Caterham - looks like the optional 16" wheels to me (not the best for handling BTW). "I like the "suprising v-tec power and handleing over the apparant superior track car" better than both your explanations. It's much more entertaining. I think the seven community might just be able to outpost the jap/turbo/chipped lot on most sites - not that I'm encouraging a pissing competition or anything http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/thumbsup.gif
