Mondo
In my fire service career, and experience on responding to countless accidents, is that speeding is not one of the major factors. It's running red lights, being under the influence and distraction (radio, cell phone, etc)... The exception would be sportbikes. So I can understand cameras at intersections but speed traps are just revenue generators in my humble opinion.
jimrankin
I actually wish there were more red light cameras in the SF Bay area. It seems like over the years the yellow lights have just become a warning to speed up, not prepare to stop. It's nothing unusual for me to start to slow down because the yelow came on when I'm a couple of hundred feet or more from it and have a car behind me jump lanes ans nail it. The light is red befor they hit the cross walk 99% of the time. On the other hand speed trap camers are crap. Frankn7 can stop in half the distance and also out avoid people doing things like stupid lane changes and turns better than about anything on the road. A minivan on a set of PepBoys 4 for $99 tires is unsafe at less than the speed limit yet can cruise at 11 MPH under all day without getting sited. I got a ticket for 65 in my race prepped MINI Cooper on a straight country road when farm trucks pulling trailers were doing 60 in the 55 posted area without a second look. Says a lot about the tickets being for "safety".
BrunnyS1
alcohol leads to running red lights.......pot leads to stopping at green lights
jimrankin
And I was wondering why I keep finding myself stopped at green lights. I kept telling myself I was going to try to figure it out later but seems I'm always forgetting...........
gjslutz
As a friend said to me "fight every ticket as it is the last one you can get" if you keep it off the record, you don't get to the last one. What you save on Insurance and the ticket makets it worth it! If they can be selective on their law enforcement, we should also be selective on the ones we beleive in! gjslutz
I think all of these are run from our friends down under. The city gets their take. We are collectable most crimes cost the city!
