  1. A maid ask the lady of the house for a raise. The lady ask her why she thinks she deserves a raise. The maid say "because I iron much better than you do". And who says that ? Your husband said it. And he also said I'm a better cook than you. He said that! Yes, and I'm also much better at making the love than you are. The son of a bitch said that!! No mam, the gardener told me that. Oh! Would an extra $100 a week be enough???
  2. If your going to use it for any kind of event just go with an R comp tire. As you have already seen it's going to rot away before you use it up unless you track it, and then you would want an R comp anyway so see, you can't go wrong.
  3. I have stored a crazy amount of upgrades and adds to the car (just sold it a couple of months ago) with pictures but have never gotten around to putting it together as a submission, lack of time but mostly lack of computer expertize. I probably won't get it to you in time for this update but will work on it in the near future so if you update again you can add it in then. Sellers remorse has already sunk in on passing on my S2K. I'm just getting into a rotisserie restoration/restomod build of a 1967 factory RS/SS Camaro I've owned since 1977. Even though it will no longer have a single suspension, brake or frame component from GM and an LS3 motor and 6 speed drive line it still will never be as much fun to drive on track as the "7" was. I also took my MINI down to a body shell last fall and it now has a complete aftermarket "everything that moves" suspension and bushings front and rear and went through the motor, new clutch/flywheel, supercharger overdrive, cold air intake and Borla exhaust. STILL not an S2K replacement but a lot of fun.
  4. Side note about BAR. I'm surprised he didn't make you start the engine as they will not issue a "smog exemption" tag to a "gross polluter". The term applies to not just engines belching blue smoke from being totally worn out but also from really highly tuned race engines that are gulping great quantities of fuel and expelling a lot of it unburned. I had the smog referee at my BAR appointment happy that I was running a stock S2000 motor and ECU with a cat but he did mention that kit cars with mods to "race spec" type of tune had to go on the machine and pass at a reasonable level. Said he had only had one kit car, a Cobra with about 600 HP that he would not sign off on.
  5. These are the Team Dynamics Motorsport wheels on the car. Sad day for me as the photo is of Pat (the new owner) getting ready for a quick blat before we load the car in his trailer ;-(. Other wheel photo is the Enkie I run on track.http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=12330&stc=1http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=12331&stc=1
  6. I'll try to get some pictures of it up when I can. The wheels I use on track with the slicks are Enkie from their lightweight wheel section. 17' X 8" X 38 front and 17" X 9" X 48 rear. I have the exact model number in the car folder so will try to get it before it leaves today. My street wheels are Team dynamics Motorsports. Same size and within 2MM of the same offset. The buyer "Pat", is picking up a trailer today and will be here later for the car. He rode in it with me driving and loved it. He drove it yesterday with a little bit of open two lane black top to play on and he is now seriously addicted! Big s--t eating grin, bugs and all LOL.
  7. Make sure you print out the California DMV requirements (available on line) and take them with you as most shops need a VIN number and will stop cold when you don't have one. The section under "Special Construction Vehicles" is a bit vague but does give you a basic idea of what you need. If I remember correctly it's based on what had to be on a vehicle in 1960 code and also the exemptions for vehicles weighing under a given weight which I thing was 1500 pounds. Call your local shops and ask if they can do a non-VIN vehicle and then if they "can" have they done "SPCN" inspections before. I had a real hard time finding one who would do a SPCN but ended up getting it done by taking the paperwork to one who said he would give it a try.
  8. They are fast but it seems like the drivers who own them are a bit afraid to let it all hang out. Never driven one so don't know just how well they telegraph when your near the edge but I've been on track with a few in my 7 and never been passed by one.
  9. As long as the car was originally sold as a "kit" or as known in some states as a "specially constructed motor vehicle" it will meet California SB requirements. If the car has not started life as a vehicle with a manufacturers VIN number they count as special construction. Check to see if Storker was still selling them as "kits" when this one was built to be sure though.
  10. Thanks for all the interest in my car!! I had not planned to have the car home and ready for sale for a month or more and then do BAT but I've had several persons interested and I have a committed buyer for the car for my (what I knew was low) asking price. I told him I wouldn't "sell" it to him till he has seen and driven it but I'm sure he won't have a problem. When I emailed the other most interested buyer last night he asked for the chance at second look or if I'd take more now so I guess it's gone. Both of them know my car. The buyer through other drivers and the second looker by having seen and been passed by my car on tracks. Both are Northern California and both want it as a track car, two things I was looking for in a buyer. If I'm not driving it I want it out there doing what theses cars are really for, getting a driver to rip his face smiling at 100+. I know I'm going to want to shoot myself when it's gone but life changes and doing more things with my wife is now my priority. I'm sure the new owner will be active on this blog and I want to thank all of the people I have corresponded with here for their help and to say I've had a good time helping anyone here I could. BTW, the new buyer is a really decent driver, something I'm totally not, so even more Vettes, Porches and the like will be getting humiliated LOL.
  11. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=12289&stc=1http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=12290&stc=1This is my S2K.
  12. Major changes in my wife's health (and my passing 70 years old) have me looking at down sizing my car count and getting on with the long delayed restorations of my Camaro and Jaguar. My S2K is in it winter storage but I will be bringing it home in a month or so to get it ready for sale. I'm just posting this now because I have been helping out a "new buyer" here in the Bay area who has expressed that if he knew I was selling he wouldn't have bought the one he has over mine. So, if your shopping or know someone that is be aware that a really well sorted bulletproof S2K with a ton of spares is coming on the market soon. If you have a special interest in learning more now just PM me. Thanks.
  13. The WCM S2K has was designed and in about 98% of the builds is powered by an S2000 drive train with a Subaru IRS rear differential and suspension. That is about as bulletproof and low maintenance a drive line as you could put together no matter where you went for source. Of course if you want much more than the stock 240 HP you are either going to have to go with forced induction or get pretty exotic with aftermarket parts.
  14. It totally depends on the car and wheel width size. Hold a straight edge vertically across the face of the hub where the wheel will mount. Take a ruler and mark the width of your intended rim on it. Move the ruler over the vertical line till you have clearance between the end and the "inner" point of contact and see if your still inside your outer fender limit at the width mark also. If you have room for that size rim just measure the difference from the vertical line and the "center" of your width marked on the ruler and that will translate to the offset once you convert to MM. Good way to see what you can buy that will fit before you pay for it LOL.
  15. There are a few of us with "tilt" steering. My steering column is above the chassis cross brace and the exact angle/height you want is derived by raise/lower of a large threaded heim joint at the universal end of the steering column. I have sat in another S2K with the low mounted wheel and agree that it didn't feel "natural" to me, too low especially if you have a small wheel. I don't have assisted steering and with slicks or large street tires it's a chore to steer if the cars not moving. not a problem on tyrack but it would be helpful to have assist or an even faster ratio rack if you do autocross and they put in a "box" of four 90 degree corners in about two car lengths. My S2K can do the corners faster than I can move the wheel LOL. With the right pads you can stop the car at speed with light pedal pressure, once you get some heat into the pads. I drag my foot on the brake all the way out of the paddock and try to remember on the street that I have a bit of lag when not warmed up.
  16. Even more of a hack of this post but.... Some drastic changes in my life has me really considering downsizing my car count and spending more time with my wife and family. My "7" isn't a Caterham, it's a WCM Ultralite S2K which is slightly more friendly to larger drivers. Not a problem for a 6'7" driver to fit except for the usual footwell issues where your not going to be driving in size 14 tennis shoes. Car is stored for the winter here in CA but if anyone has an interest they can PM and I'll send some details. Havent put together any kind of "add" yet as too much other stuff going on. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=12203&stc=1ent put togeteher
  17. I run the NTO1's as my street tire but had also used my previous set as my track and street tire. I love the NT's as a street tire as when you get them down to about 16-17 Lbs they both stick and take up a lot of the road surface bumps with no adverse effects from the low pressure. The first set of NT's held their grip (didn't heat cycle out) after way over 20 track days and had a lot of tread left when I replaced them with slicks. I liked them so well I bought a new set for my street tires but probably could have just kept the old ones as here in CA we don't have to deal with getting caught out in the rain and they were still gripping even though well below the wear bars.
  18. Thanks for the photo link! The shots of the supercharged flathead with four one barrel carbs made my day. Saw a couple of them at the drags back in the '60's and even though OHV motors blew them away they looked and sounded sooooo much cooler ;-)!
  19. A very technically superior car to be sure. Had the chance to see the very compact factory and the assembly was meticulous. The crew seemed to genuinely be positive about the car and it's performance against its competition. Hope someone comes forward with the cash to keep it going.
  20. just downsize to a .500 inch bore Wilwood clutch master cylinder. .625 is what seems to be the standard size on the 3-4 cars I've had the chance to work on. You don't need much travel if you set it up correctly and the smaller cylinder will make it a lot lighter feel.
  21. One thing to think about is the limited supply of S2000 engines and transmissions. I love the 2.2L and 6 speed in my S2K but you can find, literally, a hundred Miata power trains for sale for every S2000 power train on line, and for a small fraction of the price. That said, I have been seriously tracking my S2K for 6 years and my total outlay for repairs and maintenance has been for one throttle position sensor and six oil filters and full synthetic oils every fall before storage. Oh, forgot trans, diff and brake fluid changes that I do but probably don't need and are not related to the motor.LOL.
  22. Your right Alfonse, I guess that the video driving just isn't right for some of us, especially us pre video game old guys. I have lots of hours in stunt planes, ocean sailing, cars trips on twisty mountain roads, some in other countries with no guard rails or signs I could only sometimes decipher and have never had a moment of motion sickness. Then I got invited to an open house at a high end car "clubhouse" and got into what I guess is the ultimate "sim racing" console. You sit in part of a race car that kind of "moves" and completely wrap around 3-D "windshield" screens. I lasted less than 10 minutes before I had to bail. Tried it again later with the same results. Now know what people with motion sickness go through.
  23. So fookin' politically incorrect and so fookin' right on.
  24. I wanted to make your ThunderHill event last winter but was already committed elsewhere. TH West is about the best track in NorCal for 7's and other light well handling cars, my favorite in fact and I've run it several times. I usually avoid running with HOD as they usually combine the west with the east tack and then bypass four of the best corners on the east side so the big high powered heavy cars don't have to turn. That sucks!!! Brought it up to David R. who runs HOD and he said most of the drivers ask for the bypass. (see drivens quote above LOL) I'll try to make it this year if you do it again. Don't want to dampen you events chances but I'm going to be doing rain dances every day starting about November since I'm a bit tired of this drought.
  25. Speaking of west coast 7'er and track time the golden Gate Lotus Club is going to be running Buttonwillow Raceway in SoCal on October 3rd. Low car count, non-profit so dirt cheap, 30 min. on and 30 min. off track all day so mega track time and great for working on your set up or experimenting with braking etc. Also a really friendly group and we don't care what kind of car you bring as long as you enjoy driving and meeting other drivers for a good time. Step up SoCal ,the East Coast/Mid West is making us look bad LOL.
