Zetec Black-top (ZX3) Idler Pulley

Does anyone have or know where I can find an Idler Pulley assembly for a ZX3 Zetec? I am building up a crate ZX3 to replace the ZX1 in my S1 and have read that an Idler pulley is necessary in order to make the water pump run in the correct direction. I found one on the Raceline site, but two emails to them have yielded no replies. Do they do business with customers in the USA? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You might try calling them..... for some reason some outfits in the old country are not as email friendly as we are on this side of the big pond. I have not personally dealt with them but know of quite a few who have bought pieces from them recently.

I built my own surpentine assembly using parts bought from NAPA when I put a Zetec in my Europa. Had to fab a few mounts but it certainly wasn't rocket science.

If you weren't so far away I'd be interested in your ZX1!

Can't you just swap the water pumps? Check zetecinside.com

I've looked into changing out the impeller to run the water in the opposite direction. Seems that the problem is that the pump body is designed for water flow in a single direction. Can cause cavitation, thus reduced water flow if you run the water in the opposite direction.

I'll try giving Raceline a call.

Thanks!

Edit:

Try theses guys: http://qsraceengines.com/ Quicksilver RacEngines. They might have a solution

That was an easy solution for the ZX1. Ford had European water pumps with reversed impellers for cars without air condition and simplified serpentine (certain Fiesta and Escort models). The pump was definitely made for such an impeller and I use it for a long time.

Not sure if that was ever done for the ZX3.
