I've got a set of black leather Caterham seats that were used for about 1,500 miles. They came out of an 2009 SV. I think they are bout 16" wide at the base, but can measure them if you are interested.

I haven't taken mine out yet, but at first measure they appear to be maybe 14 inches wide at the base...are the SV seats wider than other Caterham seats?

Correct but the Caterham S3 regular seats will fit in a Birkin as i have seen that installation done.

I need new seats BUT they do not have to be Birkin seats...In fact something more comfortable would be even better. Primarily street driving...the car came with a set of Hoosier slicks and wheels but I am not sure that I will ever use them.

I have heard good things about the Cobra Roadster 7 seats. Any suggestions?

I changed out my original seats to the new Birkin "sport" seats, and have found them to be very comfortable on long driving days.

Here's the sport seat (if I've managed to upload correctly).

I don't have the original seats, I gave them to my daughter for her locost project. Besides, you *don't* want the early seats like I had (pre-2002 I believe)...they were HORRIBLE--little more than vinyl covered planks developed during the Spanish Inquisition.

I agree about the original seats...looking at the picture I can't tell if the seat frame is molded plastic and the seat, back and headrest are the only upholstered parts.

I am amazed that no seats have appeared for sale.

Hello it is Peter of Belgium.

I have a birkin of 1999 and I changed the seats of origin very can comfortable. I replaced by seats for S3 caterham out of leather they are extraordinary. The bottom is dismountable of continuation I have only to remove old fixings and to weld 2 reinforcements by seats to reinforce. for me best the solution. Bye Peter

The Caterham leather/cloth seats are comfortable and light weight. The seat is designed to accommodate the harness. Being a two piece seat, i.e. the bottom is removable, makes it easy to vaccum the car after a track day to remove the gravels or grass.

That's correct, the seats are rather thin FRP in one piece with removable seat, back and headrest bits. My seat pieces have a bit of additional foam in them, as well.

These seats worked very well for me, initially, because they were easy to lower through the floor. In practice, they are amazingly comfortable--at 600 miles on the first day of the Badlands tour this summer, I realized I was more comfortable than I would have been in any of my other cars.

Aw shucks. I'm sure that others have gone further. I did 677 miles that first day, from home to Park City, UT. It really demonstrates how important it is to find seats that work for you--every body is different, and you can only find the right seat by trying out several. Or being lucky.

Caterham cloth seats are fairly comfortable. I added some padding on the back since I knew I'd be driving on rough roads. I did 15hr drive 750mi at night one way and then the return took 12hrs. Other than just being tired from the drive I didn't notice any unusual aches or pains. I did have a bit of numbness in my arms from a pinched nerve in my back, but may have done that from work the day before the drive. Oh I did bottom out a few times hitting frost heaves at 80mph. Hurt less than my wrx since the seat harness in the 7 kept me in the seat.

Wow both rzempel and jlumba81 I tip my hat to the both of you as I am good for about two hours in my car and then I have to get out and streach and let my body relax as my seats are comfortable for that period of time but the ride and wind is what also tires me out and besides my 5gallon gas tank is only good for about 175 miles of very conservitive driving and we all know how hard that can be in a 7 besides my bladder needs to be relived after about two hours depending on how much liquid I have had before the drive.....must be my age.....
