So what? I can get 13,500 (redline) on my 600RR ... Big effing, deal.

My Kid (foolishly, hey! he's a kid :-)) had an expensively modded RX7 II Turbo with a compressor section the size of a dinnerplate.. true.

Rotaries being 2 strokes, suck up CFM like nobody's business (to a MAX of 6 psi tho ) and burn oil a well as mass volumes of fuel.

STILL slower than his friends' new BMW 330I ? the one with a folding metal convertible top and twin turbos.

Upshot is: IMO.. Wankles are a dead end design .. No longer interesting.

Sure is nice to have all those positive comments when trying to sell something.

Congrats on the sale! Gotta go with Trough Doctor's comment too. This is a pretty small group of folks with common interest, seems only a few folks feel the need to post negative comments re price or whatever publicly on the forum.. If someone really wanted to offer pricing advice or anything else for the seller, they do have the option to PM them. Of course they won't get the thrill of seeing their sage advice on display for all to see ;)

I do not see anything mean spirited in any way with the messages on this thread, just opinions and view points; you could argue that is in good input for a potential buyer to see this.

In fact, there have been far more damning comments made on cars for sale in this forum, but those are normally on non-paid-up club members cars.

If the no comment/discussion rule is to be enforced would that apply to all statements, including the " wow, love it, what a deal" type?

You are right, this thread really wasn't one of the bad ones. There have been 'for sale' threads where a sellers price / type of build was the target, I should have posted there. Why try to trash a guys sale? The market will set the price. Want to give advice to the seller? PM them. BTW, I have no issue with debate, critique, opinion etc.. On almost any topic, that's part of the fun of forums! But trashing a members 'for sale' ad is really not called for.

The right buyer. The purchaser of this car is really going to be happy. He is an experienced SCCA race driver and will be using the car for track and autocross. He has built many cars including a Porsche 959 copy from a rusted 1973 Porsche 911T roller body. This includes installing the engine and finishing off the car with paint, etc. Knows what he is doing.

He also knows what he is getting, and he is going to have a ball.

Besides, the car needs very little at this point and is currently enjoyable as a turnkey.

Its all good.

I own a rotary 7, while not my favorite choice of engines, it is powerful (and that is easily increased) as reliable as any engine and pulls smooth to about 9k. I was loud and hard to quiet down and is short on compression breaking. With today's brakes the compression braking is not an issue. They are not a two stroke but in a class of their own and the fuel usage is just slightly more than a piston engine. In short there is little chance that i will change it and if I did it would be for a v8. and if it was a track car not in a class the rotary would be my choice due to the low center of gravity and ease of obtaining horsepower. Somebody got a real fun car that will have a thin resale market as the only downside except maybe a carb change or FI. To each his own. And yes i also love the sound of a four-banger at high Rs.

No more 7's for me. I found the one. Are you still looking?
