BruceBowker Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 I have a chance to go to one of these. Any suggestions for the better one? I prefer sedan/sporty type as opposed to open wheel at this time. Not Nascar. Thanks for any suggestions. Bruce
rnr Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 There is a Corvette Driving school at Spring Mountain Motorsports which is an excellent road course about an hour outside Vegas. http://www.springmountainmotorsports.com/driving-schools The also used to have an Elise driving school at the track so you may want to inquire if you can do that instead. I drove my Elise there a few months ago and had a blast - their instructors are quite good as well.
BruceBowker Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 Thanks. I am looking at their website. It is instruction, correct? Not just driving fast for fun? Bruce
powderbrake Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 I did the Bragg-Smth 3 day advanced school a few years ago at Spring Mountain, before it was sold to Fellows. Great track, lots of fun, great instructors, and a chance to flog someone elses Vette for 3 days, and almost use up a set of tires. I am not sure if the same people are around, but I am sure any reputable school is going to be worthwile
jimrankin Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 I good friend of mine (He lets me drive his Z06 so he can't be too smart LOL.) did the Z06 driving instruction mentioned above. He was very happy other than a little repair cost for a fast off track into some stones not far off track taller than a Z06 can clear (now removed I hear). Lots of heel/toe, threshold barking etc. and he did go through the brand new set of tires each car starts with.
BruceBowker Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 Looked at the Lotus school which seems about what I would like/need. Same track apparently. I just have to see when it runs and how much.
BruceBowker Posted January 6, 2012 Author Posted January 6, 2012 Found out the Lotus school is no longer. Looks like Corvettes are the choice now.
