Hank Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 I finished the major portion of bobbing my 1970 deuce & 1/2. Put a custom 8" frame lift, 53" tires, 2-piece HEMTT wheels, M105A2 trailer bed, custom stainless brake lines, LED f/r/headlights. Next up is to install a custom power steering kit, under dash military A/C & heater kit and PAINT IT! http://www.hanksdeuce.com/images/bobbedwithexped.jpg http://www.hanksdeuce.com/images/07side.jpg http://www.hanksdeuce.com/images/08corner.jpg Front & Rear frame cover plates: http://www.hanksdeuce.com/images/IMG_1329.jpg

bsimon Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Air-O-Matic power steering, or something more elaborate?
Hank Posted May 26, 2012 Author Posted May 26, 2012 Air-O-Matic power steering, or something more elaborate? I went with a totally different steering box mounted on the outside of the frame with ports for a 5 ton power steering pump. The system was purchased from Waterloo Specialties LINK HERE. I didn't want the danger of a true hydraulic steering having a double acting ram because if one of the lines comes off then you can't steer. The air-o-matic isn't made anymore and it is hard to find a kit. This system is just like my 2003 Ford Expedition, only larger.
Hank Posted May 26, 2012 Author Posted May 26, 2012 The Waterloo system looks like a nice bit of kit. Wait until I put the A/C & heat kit in the deuce.
WestTexasS2K Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 That's on my bucket list of vehicles. I would like to put air ride suspension on one. Keep us posted on the progress.
