scannon Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 One showed up at our C&C this morning. I didn't get a drive in it but got to sit in the driver's seat, start and rev the engine. A tight fit with no adjustment for the seat or pedals. About as difficult to get in and out off as my Caterham SV but not as comfortable and narrower side to side. When I started the engine the whole car started shaking side to side, much worse than the fore and aft shaking of an H-D. Even revving the engine to 3k didn't do much to quell the shaking. I suspect the car would wear you out after a couple of hundred miles. Even though it uses a Miata transmission, the gear lever is much longer which makes for a much longer throw. It didn't feel as smooth or tight as the Miata shifter. I didn't have my camera handy so I didn't get any pictures. This one was BRG with the bright (chrome) package. MSRP on it was $43k. Yikes, between that price and the shaking it is off my bucket list of cars to own.
turboeric Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 A car like that will always pose something of a dilemma. If it is true to the character of its roots, it will be crude, primitive and hard to live with. If it is modernized enough to satisfy current expectations, the purists will howl. From seeing on Top Gear in the track day car comparison, it looks like hilarious good fun. In small doses.
Automoda Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I cant understand the price, but I'd love one. Perhaps they have the wrong motor in it. Try a high strung bullet bike engine and perhaps your complaints would go away. Honestly it looks like a simple project to make one. Easier than a locost anyhow. The pembleton is a little too low-performance for me but check it out. http://www.pembleton.co.uk/index.shtml Hey if gas is 20$ per gallon perhaps we'll all be driving stuff like this.
MoPho Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Here is the Cat with a new Mog 3 Wheeler. It is gorgeous Didn't get to drive it but got a ride. Not my cup of tea, too crude as noted above, definitely recreates that vintage feel though .
MoPho Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 a car that makes a 7 look like a Caddy. In some ways quite the opposite
Ade Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Forget Morgan and their overpriced piece of English Nostalgia. These are far better and miles cheaper to. A friend has one and they are so light they go like stink! http://www.triking.co.uk/
MoPho Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 smoking that maaryjuana again? Ha, no. The Morgan is a bit smaller, but the interior is luxurious compared to my 7 .
