slngsht Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Please let me know. I, along with a few others have noticed some inconsistent behavior, where the forum pops up a message box indicating you have a new message when you don't, or not telling you that there is a new message, when there is one. Skip got a notification, but found no new message. I'm trying to confirm that this is just a case of false notification rather than a message just disappearing. Thanks, and I'll work on this bug in the coming weeks (still too busy with work these days).
bsimon Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 I may be the culprit. I was trying to reply to Skip's post on speedos in the tech section. Every time I got close to posting, Qwest would untrain my router. After a couple of trys, I gave up. My attempts were around 04:00 GMT, if that's any help. Here's what I think was happening; Even if you don't complete a post, the forum software still sends the Topic Subscription New Post Notification by e-mail if any members have selected that option. I've seen it happen in other forums that have the look of this one. Qwest fixed my router problem now and I can stay connected. BTW...You've done a fantastic job of making this forum work well. I hope I haven't thrown a spanner in the works here...
slngsht Posted May 10, 2007 Author Posted May 10, 2007 Bob, Thanks for the kind remarks I think skip's problem was with a missing private message, rather than a post. The forum is still a work in progress. I see alot of areas for improvement, but making a living is getting in the way. Slowly but surely...
scannon Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Today I got a regular email notifying me that I had a PM on the forum. I went there and it was there.:hurray: This time I didn't get the flash screen upon going to the forum as I had with the previous couple of times when the PM was missing so I think you have solved the problem. Thanks and get along with making a living! Skip
