Alaskossie
I just received my May 2013 issue of Low Flying from the Brit Sevens club, and I see that our own Morgan Segal earned pride of place with the cover photo. It is his action photo of the orange Seven with a Stig-lookalike at the wheel....which I think he posted on this site earlier. Nice going, MoPho! That's what happens when you let a professional shark swim amongst us photographic minnows.... Alaskossie
MoPho
Oh neat, it came out already, I am not a member so haven't seen it. I think they said they might send me a copy. How's it look? Thanks! .
scannon
Is that the picture of Mr Orange moving fast against a dark background and the driver wearing a black helmet and a bit of flame out of the exhaust pipe?
Alaskossie
Skip, Yes, that's the photo. Mopho, it turned out great! I recall the efforts you describe going through to get that photo. Any chance you might make available for purchase by USA7s members a larger print, suitable for framing, of this great shot? I'm sending you a PM re obtaining a copy of this issue of LowFlying. I was able to do that after the magazine printed the cover shot of my Seven on the Alaska Highway in July 2012 (although I'm a member of the Brit club, I wanted a couple of extra copies for bragging purposes). scannon
I'd be up for a copy of the photo as well. It was the wallpaper on my monitor until recently.
rnr
Is this the photo in question? Looks fantastic http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8312/7968984616_2dd1374c0a_z.jpg Caterham-motion_web by MoPho, on Flickr
MoPho
I can look into what it would cost to get some prints made. What size are you thinking? Thanks
Alaskossie
MoPho, I'm thinking 12x16 inches or 16x20 inches -- a nice, standard size and proportion for framing. I would want to make sure that this Seven light is not hidden under a bushel.....

MoPho
MoPho, I'm thinking 12x16 inches or 16x20 inches -- a nice, standard size and proportion for framing. I would want to make sure that this Seven light is not hidden under a bushel..... To keep cost reasonable, I will do a test print at the local photo lab to see if it is up to my standards and go from there. (Typically, I have custom prints made but they can be pretty expensive) I'll keep you posted Thanks
mca
Wow, that is impressive! I'm interested in a copy as well. I need some wall art and this would do nicely. I don't suppose you'd make it available for us to print ourselves? For personal use only, of course.
MoPho
I had considered that, but then I wouldn't have control over the quality and I don't really want the full size file getting out there. I only intend to charge cost plus shipping/packaging.
MoPho
Update: I had a test print made at the local inexpensive lab and I wasn't too happy with the results (and it wasn't that inexpensive either). The pro lab I would typically use to do a a high end gallery print is pretty expensive ($70ish per print). A colleague suggested an online lab he's used with good results, but it will take a while to get a test done, so I may just pull the trigger and have a bunch made and hope for the best. It's looking like they will be about $18 each plus shipping this way. Does that seem reasonable? .
Alaskossie
MoPho, What size is the $18 print? I'd spring for a $70 print if it was of good size, and suitable to be framed for my guest room. You're a professional photographer; please don't sell yourself (or the subject matter) short!
MoPho
Sorry, that was for a 16x20 print. If there is enough interest in the higher end prints I will look into getting it done that way
scannon
I'm in for one of the $18 versions if you decide to go that way.
Alaskossie
MoPho, I'd go for the $18 print, and if I felt that I really wanted a higher quality, I could contact you for the high-end version. I'll certainly initially take a chance on the $18 one. Thanks for looking into my original suggestion that you make prints of your great photo available to USA7s member. rnr
I'm in for $18. BTW have you tried Costco for printing? At ~$5 for a print its cheap enough that you can try a few different variations to correct for their printing errors
mca
I'm in for $18. This will be a great excuse to meet and drive in the summer weather.
MoPho
Costco is actually about the same price for a 16x20 and I don't have a membership anyway
