centerfireman Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I have an early '90s S3 Caterham and have always had problems with fueling, especially with the "clean air" type nozzles that are used in California. The angle of the fill spout on the car does not seem to match up with the shape of the gasoline nozzle very well. And, the "clean air" collar which seals against the car to limit HC loss often prevents the nozzle from penetrating far enough in to allow fuel to flow. Does anyone have suggestions on how to deal with/cure this problem? Thanks.
slomove Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I have a Birkin but principally the same problem. I get it to work reasonably well with the nozzle pistol grip turned upward. Depending on the pump I have to reduce flow, that is not to push the lever fully. Mostly I get a small sip spilling out when the nozzle shuts off.
wemtd Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I found that a newton filler cap lets me get the nozzle further into the car and doesn't leak when closed with a full tank
