I'm hoping this is a simple question. Can a Honda K24 fit in a caterham (SV chassis) or is it too tall?

Thanks,

Daniel

Its pretty tall. You may want to check engine rotation of the K24. I know some of the earlier Hondas run CCW. I think the K24 is CW as is the F20c. I can give you the height measurements of the F20c if that will help you any. I have seen the F20c in a Westfield and the Ultralite and a few Locost cars. I don't think I have ever seen one in a Caterham.

correct it has never been done because of the engine rotation issue. I also wanted a k24 in my caterham since i swapped one into my elise, but it came up with many issues on the engine rotation and the trans that would be able to fit it.

K20 & K24 rotate in the correct way, just like the F20C.

2 issues. The F20C transmission is not a direct bolt on and the height. I know a K20 is 3 inch taller than my 4AGE in my Locost. Yhea I'm planing a K20 swap for it, it will be dry sumped, but I'll still need a hump in my hood.

I know that there was a caterham with a F20C saw it on the web somewhare and someone was adapting a K20 into a caterham, but I've never seen the finished product.

Cheers,

Hi Fred! I have thought of a K series Honda many times, until I saw the price of them.

Sorry don't want to threadjack! But...

I have my Deman SR7 (SR20DET now) for sale BTW It is registered and insured in Ontario.

A few spares are included: AEM ECU (not installed), scuttle, fibreglass rear panel...

$15,000 I'm in Gatineau.

PH thread - Superlight w/K20

The owner gives quite a few details, and photos. But what I take away from it is that it was expensive, time consuming, and he ended up with performance not much different than a well built Ford-based drop-in engine choice.

edit* Use Sean's link above.

It sure doesn't look like there is room for a K24/F20C.
