Drive shaft rubbing chassis

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I'm new to this forum. I have a seven with an unusual rear a frame.

It connects to the rear diff using a ball joint. I'm having trouble with something shifting during heavy braking or cornering causing the drive shaft to rub the chassis. I believe the 7 might be a Mark Seven Ferjer. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Ron:seeya:

I had the rear ball on the A frame break, I would carefully check it out.

The rubbing of the driveline is most likely because the traction bars on either side of the car are not properly adjusted causing the diff to be angled incorrectly. As I found on mine the bushings on the shocks, and traction bars are probably worn out as they were just a rubber compound. I replaced with poly type bushings and have had no problems at all. I also replace the rear ball with a much more reliable hiem(sp) joint and modified the connection to the diff.

Seems to me that similar discussion has come up on here before. Maybe try a search for heim joint. I have 2 fejers with the same set up. I haven't had that problem, but do note that some height adjustable coil over shocks on the front and back might help, if bushings aren't the problem. The original non-adjustable rear shocks on one of my cars are quite poor and the car tends to sit very, very low.
