centerfireman Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I know this is a trivial question but my leather Caterham seats squeak like crazy (over every bump, everytime I reposition myself in the seat, etc.). It seems that the metal seat frame itself is making the noise as it moves and flexes. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions before I go crazy? Thanks.
Hettric Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Somethings wrong with your engine if you can hear your seats!
ihckb2 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Maybe there trying to tell you something......like your going to fall through the floor
bball7754 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Falling through the floor is an actual possibility. Lots of posts on Blatchat about the rivets on the floor pulling out. I had read about it, but hadn't checked. Then about 2 years ago I had my Caterham up on stands and happened to glance over. At least 5-8 of the rivets were totally out, and several more were loose. Believe several other members here have had the same problem. Steve
scannon Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Is the leather touching the cockpit anywhere? Leather can squeak if it rubs on other leather, vinyl, metal, etc. It could be where the seat back touches the bottom cushion. I've had this problem in other cars. Cleaning and treating it with Lexol helps and is good for the leather.
centerfireman Posted October 4, 2013 Author Posted October 4, 2013 Thank you for the suggestions (serious and otherwise!).
