KiwiBirkin
Was discussing our cars with Marg last night as we have decided to sell the Mazda MPS and mentioned I was also thinking of selling Grace as we have only done 3000 kms in her over the last year and our first year in OZ, we haven't used it as much as I thought we would, mainly due to doing a few other new things 4WDing, surfing, camping and some times it can be too dam hot out and about in a car with no roof and no doors and the wind is like a hairdryer sometimes it just takes it out of you being in a car exposed to really hot weather (Dec-March). I was explaining my plan was to sell Grace along with the Mazda MPS and pool the money and buy a Lotus Elise which would give us our first ownership of a proper marque branded sports car and would still give us a cool car to drive, plus I always loved the Elise ever since I drove one 3 years ago on a Southern Lotus Club trip I was on, I got to spend the whole day driving a 1998 Elise S1 when I swapped cars with a fellow club member for the day, I also think a Elsie could be used a bit more as a normal car. Towards the end of the conversation Marg was making it quite clear she didn't want to let Grace go and I as much as I still love my Seven I was only letting her go to help fund the way into a Elise, next thing Marg tells me is sell the Mazda MPS, keep Grace and just buy a Elsie and have both ...I didn't see this coming I thought no way she's had too many Rums  ....so this morning after a nights sleep I mention our conversation and its all remembered and all still GO. So the plan now sell the MPS, once that's done start the search for a Elise and start making a decision on either a S1 or S2, I need to find out what the rules are here for buying cars from a different state and what issues if any there are, I have joined the OZ Elise forum and will start asking questions on there about them. God I love my wife...if this comes off how cool is my garage going to look with Grace and an Elise sitting side by side :cooldude:

That for sure and I can see it now you will be asking Marg if you can have the keys to the Elise when you want to just go for a drive...:jester:.... :driving:
snookwheel
Sounds like you have one fine woman! Hang on to her. I can relate, we have permanent numbers (25) on our Stalker, it was a gift to her on our 25th wedding anniversary, and I survived! A good woman who appreciates cars is a treasure to be cherished! TomF
Very happy being in a household where the slowest, most practical car we own (by quite a margin) is a Subaru WRX.

rx7locost
My wife really supports my g'raj hobby. I read this thread to my wife and said "The bar has now been raised". She was not amused. She also said "I didn't tell you to sell the MGA!" Hmmmmmm? My problem is I don't have room to keep 'em all. I know that. I wonder how supporting she would be if I said "I want to move to a farm house with outbuildings/stables"?
sevenup
Rx7locost, If there was ever one "deal breaker" with my wife...it was the lack of storage space for these sports cars....ten years ago I added 12 feet to each side of a 12' X 18' storage barn, an an additional 12" across the back for a total of 30' X 36"....now the MG's, Stalker and Z3/Z4 coupe have a cozy gathering place ....ha ha
rx7locost
My garage is ~27x21 (inside) with an 8ft x 21 loft. that is with a std 16 foot garage door. I keep 2 cars in there, the wife's DD and the Locost. With a couple of workbences and all my tools of destruction, along with yard exuipment, incl lawn tractor, there isn't much room for anything else. I was looking into 4-post lifts several times but just can't give up the perimeter storage necessary. The good news is, we plan on moving "somewhere" in the next couple of years so maybe the outbuilding idea isn't out of the question just yet.
