That looks rather modern for a 1967 lotus. Isn't it illegal to falsify one's registration documents?

It's a Caterham titled as a Lotus 7. They should call a spade a spade.

Why would someone do that? As a Caterham is technically a kit car. Why shouldn't or wouldn't it be registered as what it really is.

In many states you can register a kit car/homebuilt/etc. as the model it most closely resembles. It is still noted as a kit, likely in the title's comment section and possibly elsewhere.
