  1. Hi Sorry, life got very busy and I didn't check the page. I have not weighed them. Back-of-the-napkin guess 1500 Lbs for car, 800 Lbs for trailer, maybe 2300 Lbs for both together. I can try to get a more accurate weight this weekend. Thanks!

  4. Hi everyone! We plan on hosting the 2015 Midwest 7s gathering in Galena IL this year. Plan on it being early to mid May. We have already scouted the area so we will probably post official dates, locations, etc sometime in mid January. We look forward to seeing all you fantastic people again this year and hope that lots of new friends come join the fun. Brent and Brenda
  5. Awesome Job! Many thanks to Russ and Chris for an excellent event. We had a wonderful time.
  6. That area looks fantastic! Looking forward to hearing how your scouting goes. Brent and Brenda
  7. Fantastic, Thanks everyone. Great advice. I've started looking at the border web sites and requirements. As we already have passports, I'm not expecting it to be too bad. Part of how we plan to make it work is to force the whole trip into 9 days... works out to only about 125 miles/day average... It'll be a struggle to travel at that slow a pace, but the goal is to enjoy the time camping and exploring, not rush from point to point. R.E. the wife and the 7, I gave her a choice: motorcycle or Stalker. For some reason she didn't choose the motorcycle.... LOL! Truth be told, she actually wants to do this more than I do. Brent
  8. My wife and I are planning to circle Lake Superior in our StalkerV6 this summer. Most likely we will enter Canada at Sault St. Marie and Back into the US at Grand Portage. We will be camping with a small motorcycle trailer in tow. My concern is that my car is registered in Minnesota as a "Collector" vehicle. Does anyone know if this will be an issue when I try to cross the border? Or will it be a case of: As long as I have registration and insurance they won't care what type of plates it has. Thanks!
  9. Hi everyone. In early June, Brenda and I will be hosting the 2012 Midwest 7s Gathering in Preston MN. Thread with some of the details here. http://www.locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=12830 The Midwest 7s Gathering is pretty low key and all are welcome. This will be the 5th consecutive year and the 5th unique location. Please feel free to come join us. Thanks!
  10. Great to have you at the Ambush this year. Brenda and I loved meeting you and going on blats with you. Have fun finishing sorting out the car. It's a process that just takes time and miles. Please don't hesitate to call if you have questions. Brent S StalkerV6 #20
  11. "500 Lb Canary" From the joke: "Q: What does a 500 lb canary say? A: Here Kitty Kitty!" "Here Kitty Kitty!" would make a good name too. Brent S StalkerV6 #20
  12. Thanks, That's me with the V6 grill. My wife drove the car over the Dragon a few minutes later. She loved it. Brent S StalkerV6 #20
  13. I heard that Ford was looking for customer comments about their new Fiesta. So, I decided to write them an open letter. Dear Ford Motor Company, Want to turn your company around? First you have to accept the harsh part so that you can overcome it and succeed: America still hasn't forgiven you for the CRAP you built in the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's. (the 00's don't look so good either) We weren't fooled by the "Sticker Engineering". We aren't stupid! And, we don't want to drive gutless, crappy, little econo boxes any more than your overpaid, prima-dona, Detroit executives do. Here's a secret: America has a performance/racing heritage that is strong, proud and largely unsung. In fact I think it is better, faster, and less snooty than Europe's. It is run all across the country, every weekend. It is made up of Autocross, NASA, Short Track, Quarter Midgets, Champ Cars, Spec Racing, SCCA, Track days, Gymkhana, Ralley, Time trials, Speed week, Run N Gun, Tuner clubs, Drifters, Ice racers, Hot rodders, and just about every other possible type of sports car enthusiast imaginable. We Americans buy small performance oriented cars by the millions. Datson 240z, Mazda RX-7, Mazda Miata, BMW 3 series, Toyota MR2, BMW Mini, Honda S2K, Subaru WRX, Nissan Skyline GTR, Porche 911, Mitsubishi 3000GT, Audi TT, Volkswagon Golf GTI, Toyota Supra, Toyota Corolla GTS, MazdaSpeed 3, Lotus Elise, Chevrolet Corvette... God, the list of successful small performance cars that enhanced the reputation and sales of their company is almost endless. On the other hand, the list of small, crappy, unreliable, slow, piece of shit cars, with a once-famous name plastered on the side, that improved the image and sales of their company, is zero! Remember the early 1980s. BMW's sales plumeted. Their new replacement for the little "Hot Rod" 2002 was the then new 3 series. A slow, gutless, econobox called the E21. Then BMW turned it all around with their motorsports division. They only sold a total of 5 thousand of the second generation E30 M3 cars in the US (17 thousand worldwide) for their entire production run from 1986 to 1990. However, those few original M3 cars drove the image that started an avalanche of tens of millions of 3 series cars and gave BMW the almost holy image as a motorsports powerhouse and perenial profit center that it has today. If BMW had not built the M3 the entire 3 series would have just remained a disapointing 2002 replacement and BMW would still be known as just a quirky foreign car maker. There is another part to BMW's success, in fact you can see this element in all the GREAT profitable cars. They built the profitable version right. They kept improving it. And then, they sold it long enough to actually recoup their tooling costs and turn a profit. I can't tell you how many times I've seen you start a promissing car, go through the teething trouble to finally get it right, and then cancel it before I can buy one. Of course, these "Tuner" cars aren't where you earn your profit! They are where you create the public desire to buy your cars that turn a profit. It's a bait and switch that the customer is happy to help you with, as long as the switch is quality in its own right. The profit cars can't be crap. Again! "Your customers aren't stupid." Quit treating the American auto enthusiast like crap and maybe, just maybe, American customers will start buying your cars again. Quarter million Dollar GT40 replicas, or Saleen specials don't hurt, but they are realy just sales gimics. I could care less about the "Bullet Edition Mustang" Or the "Shelby Commemerative Edition Mustang" or any other crappy "Badge Engineering" you choose to market. Remember the "Escort GT" or the "Mustang II King Cobra" both sad jokes that still make me want to puke. Make the name "Ford GT" stand on equal ground with "BMW M3": Fiesta GT, Fusion GT, Focus GT, Taurus GT, Mustang GT, could all be part of a "Performance Line" that stands against the best the world has to offer. So, quit faking it and
  14. Lots of people disagree with us. But, like you, I realy enjoyed Casino Royale: Daniel Craig. :yesnod: I had almost given up on the whole Bond series until I was talked into watching that one....Now I have hope again. Favorite Bond Girl....Almost all of them....:hurray:
  15. It's selectable for several different sounds. So, We selected the one that sounds like a old CRT computer screen dying a slow painful death, then we hid it behind the manager's huge flat panel monitor. We made sure that the support desk was in on the joke. Every time he complained, they brought him a worse and worse monitor until we finally felt so bad for him working on an antique tiny little monitor that we let him in on the joke and gave him his big flat panel back. Very fun, and we look forward to his revenge....someday.
  16. Up here it is quite common in the winter to drive through slush, rain, salt spray, etc and then have it freeze solid on the underbody of your car. Older vehicles are especially susceptible due to their exposed brake lines and deteriorated weather seals. The most common way to play this game is to drive in the day and then let it freeze over night. But a more advanced game can be played by driving in extreme cold (-20 or so) and having it freeze suddenly at a stop light. Time spent waiting for your underbody to thaw is just a fringe benefit. Therefore, I just avoid using the e-brake unless it is an emergency. YMMV.....
  17. Sounds Excellent, I'm sure he will appreciate the experience.
  18. Another good one. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I did like this though: Thermodynamics Quotes and Humor Especially the ones from: Seth Lloyd Sir Arthur Stanley Eddington and Ivan P. 19. :Mazda I need a fish hook smiley here: Wow, I'm so glad that they finally found a way to repeal the Second Law of Thermodynamics. The third law was smashed last year, and I bet someone will find a way to do something about that pesky first law sometime in the next 6 months...... Free lunch for everyone! Only 29.99 plus tax, shipping, handling, fuel surcharge, disposal surcharge, environmental cleanup initiative fee, and early withdrawal fee. But don't answer yet because if you call in the next 10 minutes we will include this free gold certificate with "I am a moron" printed right next to your name....
  20. Anyone looking for a source of plain knobs can go here: http://www.mcmaster.com/nav/enter.asp?pagenum=2161 I'm ordering a pair of the 1 7/8" brass ones for use next track day. :jester: :jonautox:
  21. I've been taking evening machining classes through the local Vo-Tech. I'm about 2 years into the program and it is still some of the most fun stuff I've ever studied. Expensive hobby, and it's not like I don't have other expensive hobbies. :7head:

  23. From “Roads and Bridges” magazine… November 207 Anarchy in the streets The German town of Bohmte is taking the exact opposite approach to traffic safety. Instead of adding signs, they’re removing them. In fact, this summer they completely did away with traffic signs, stoplights and even sidewalks. All in the name of safety. The concept, called “shared space,” was developed by Dutch traffic engineer Hans Monderman. The idea is that if drivers and pedestrians don’t have signs or rules to rely on, they will be forced to take responsibility for their own safety. If it sounds dangerous, it is, and that’s by design. Drivers slow down and pay more attention out of sheer terror, and that makes everyone on the road safer. Shared space was first implemented in the small Dutch town of Drachten in 2003. Signs, lights and road markings were removed, and major intersections were replaced with roundabouts. Since then, serious accidents and road fatalities have been replaced with minor fender benders. The town also has seen a huge decline in traffic jams, as well as a surge in bicycle and pedestrian traffic. http://roadsbridges.com/Oh-so-mature-article8683
