  1. Greetings everyone I finally got my R400 on the road and took it to Lime Rock, CT, a few days ago for a first real try on a track. What a blast! However, mid day, I started to have issues with my 6 speed Caterham transmission especially downshifting from 5th to 4th and sometimes going from 4th to 5th. Very surprising especially that I have approx 350 miles on the car at most (I bought the box last October 2013 directly from Caterham UK). The 4th gear will simply not engage properly, especially after accelerations, even after multiple matching RPMs, double clutch etc.. All other gears engage well, including reverse, and there are no synchromesh "crunching" noises .. I tried to adjust the travel on my clutch pedal to ensure a full release of the clutch, but I'm still having a stubborn 4th gear that won't engage smoothly... Does anyone have any clue of what might be going on? Has anyone experienced similar challenges with this transmission? What should I look for / try or test? FYI - I use Redline MTL Thank you very much for your help in advance!!
  2. Greetings everyone I'm almost done assembling my new R400 and targeting DMV inspection sometime late April / beginning of May. Has anyone gone through this process recently in Connecticut? If so, I would certainly appreciate a few do's and don'ts to ensure a successful process. For context, this is a new 2013 kit and I bought a very low mileage, "used" block from LKQ with the help of Jon Nelson in Colorado. I read the basic info on the web and downloaded the R-95 form, but wonder about a few things. Some of the websites (DMV.org) mention that if I use "used" parts to build the car, I need to "make sure I have title certificates for each vehicle used for component parts, as well as receipts for all parts used".. I can obtain the sales receipt for the engine, but the seller (LKQ) does not have the VIN from the original vehicle it came from (salvaged block).. Is it on the engine somewhere? does it matter? would a sales receipt and engine ID number of the engine suffice? looks like the R-95 form only asks for the Engine ID number. Also, on the r-95 form, there is a field for rear axle "make" and rear axle " ID number".. what should I write in this field? Caterham or BMW... (since my diff is a BMW LSD) .. my sense is that I should write Caterham since it came with the kit.. but not sure. Thank you all for your help in advance! Sebastien
  3. Mike Thanks a ton for the warm welcome. Much appreciated. Yes, I started the build at the end of August last year and I've been taking my time. Of course, I've been fighting with the kit and instructions but Jon Nelson from Caterham USA has been a great help (and on speed dial). I welcome the forum's offer to help answer questions.. I'd like to give Jon a bit of a break. As for the car, i'm getting there. Almost done.. I'm shooting for an April or May DMV registration.
  4. Greetings Northeast 7 fanatics! My name is Sebastien Katch. I live in Stamford Connecticut, and this is my first USA7s post! I’m pleased to announce that I will put on the road a new red / white striped R400 sometime this spring and truly look forward to getting to know all of you at different events over the summer. Owning and building a Caterham has been a dream come true – 20 yrs in the making. I look forward to sharing this passion and learning much from all of you. See you at the NJMP event or sooner. SK400
