  1. I wonder if you could install a 'normal' Caterham engine Seriously I wonder if there are any engines available that could be fitted to the car? I would be nice to see this car running with the Historic F1 cars next year. Assuming that it's old enough to join that group!
  2. Why do you guys post this crap?!?!? Now I've spent all evening enjoying this video and all the other similar ones that it led me too! Seriously, thanks for post that link... Lee
  3. If I handed my wife all the material and ask her to make one for me...well, let's just say if would be cheaper for me to buy one!
  4. I never realized that a "7" had taken 1st & 2nd places at Pikes Peak! That must have been one of Colin's earliest examples of a "7"
  5. Another vote for Quaife being a pretty easy install and a direct replacement. I've done two of them with good results (though not on a Cortina rear axle). I did measure the back lash with a dial indicator on both units, before and after the swap. I don't recall the actual numbers but the before and after readings were within one or two thousandths of being exactly the same. Have at it, the worst you could find is that you have to put the original diff back in and go back to searching for someone to do it for you.
  6. I just cringe a little when I see them using lead on the body panels!
  7. It looks like the car is mostly intact, but likely the occupants were not wearing helmets. It's too bad that some people insist on learning the hard lessons the hard way.
  8. I've not looked at the R1R's but I'll do that right after I this! Thanks for the replies on the T1R's. It's not what I wanted to hear, but exactly what I needed to know. They are off the list! One of the reasons that I picked on the T1R's is they come in 195/45/15. That is the size I'm hoping to use on the front with a 205/50/15 on the rear. I've only found a couple of tires that give me that option. The other one is yokohama S.Drive. Does anyone have any experience with the S.Drive tires? As to the Europa, we had some problems in the paint booth, so it's not ready for prime time yet. Here are a couple of shots of the good areas. From the rear you can see the Zetec, the rear flares (actually a totally modified fender shape) and the new scoops and fuel fill and the colors of the stripes on the nose.
  9. I'm looking for some street tires that will likely work year round except for those really nasty days. Has anyone tried the Toyo T1R tires? These will actually be used on my Europa not on my Birkin Seven. But the Europa and the Seven are pretty similar in weight and power (1350lbs plus driver and with rear mounted Ford Zetec engine in the Europa). So, has anyone used the T1R's?
  10. So, all things are on the table in order to shave a little weight? :hat: At my age the only tingles I get are during and after a quick blat in the seven!
