Let me know if this helps. http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p74/xcritic/Lotus%207/IMG_0047_zpslbz1bi1t.jpg

This seems to be the only shot I've got of it. Basically I cut the brake cable mounting plate out of the miata. Then hammered it flat and welded it to the top of the lotus tunnel. http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p74/xcritic/Lotus%207/CB2FBE9A-3A2D-4630-A0E6-3B0B87CE7531_zpswruna27u.jpg

Same issue here. Light braking doesn't light them, but at the same time I don't necessarily want them to light every time I touch the brake. My bigger concern is the switch failing all together as these are prone to do. The pedals also makes it hard to use anything else. Open to suggestions, could never come up with something that would work.
-
This is how I did it. I welded in 2 pieces of 1/2" square tubing. Then over top of that, cut a piece of sheet metal and welded that in. Shot of the pedals, you can see how the floor in this section is almost even with the top of the 1" chassis tubes. Also the other reason to do the subfloor...at least in my case was to get the master cylinders high enough to clear the 1" tube that run behind them. http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p74/xcritic/Lotus%207/IMG_1017_zps5997469a.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p74/xcritic/Lotus%207/IMG_1015_zps2aaa376d.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p74/xcritic/Lotus%207/IMG_1044_zps9dba7666.jpg

So my wilwood rear has the parking brake. This is the kit here. http://www.flyinmiata.com/index.php?deptid=5688&parentid=0&stocknumber=14-16650%2010IN While the bathroom scale is a good idea. Not sure how that would work in practice, especially in the confines of the pedal box. But give it a go. And yes the pedals are great, as long as you can make them fit I would do it. The trick is installing them. I built a sub frame/floor for them since they are floor mounted. I didn't think the steel floor would offer enough support.

So I'll chime in here. I don't have any sort of power brake assist. But I have those pedals, with willwood masters, and a wilwood miata 4 wheel big brake kit. With that said, trying to test your brakes is nearly impossible with a single gauge or at least impossible if your trying to do anything other than verify that they work. The problem comes from that while I can take a reading off the gauge, I can't tell how much pressure I'm putting through my foot. So even when standing on the brake pedal, the pressure varies enough to take a valid reading. So if your trying to balance it front to rear by placing the gauge at each corner you get reading all over the place.

Hey John, Do you know if they have any of the blueprints for the cars in the library? I asked a docent when I was last there, but they thought most of the info was on the bikes.

Just got back from the second dyno tune to adjust for the intercooler and it was a great success. Air temps were 100 degrees cooler that the previous tune. And because of that and finding a few areas that were leaking boost, I am now making 25 more hp and 10 torques to the wheels. Final numbers were 167hp 136ftlbs, there is still room to hit the 170's but the injectors are maxed out at this point. Blue lines are from a few months back. http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p74/xcritic/Lotus%207/lotus7_zps7abf4cb9.jpg

If your looking for a change to the 3rd brake lights, may I suggest a pair of led strips attached to the roll bar. They are fairly effective. http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p74/xcritic/Lotus%207/IMG_1327_zpsd2adc1a7.jpg

Just got some of those exact mirrors today. Heres what they look like scuttle mounted. Height is pretty good, right around eye level. http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p74/xcritic/Lotus%207/d91cff4425ddb06952a1248036cb819d_zpsd932dcb8.jpg

Finished up the intercooler setup today. This thing just fit, and really is a cool setup. Now I just hope it works the way it was intended. Did a long drive this past weekend of about 200 miles and managed to cook the teflon coating off the supercharger. So it was time to do this install. http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p74/xcritic/Lotus%207/IMG_1519_zps06281427.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p74/xcritic/Lotus%207/IMG_1527_zpsf3eeb5fb.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p74/xcritic/Lotus%207/IMG_1525_zps24626bb1.jpg

I was hoping to meet you, but also had the wife with me, so couldn't stay to long in fear of complaining setting in. Talked to one of the lotus guys parked next to me and he said he had a caterham just arrive for assembly. Anyways it was a nice show, wish it was a bit more into the fall, really hot and humid.

Here the link, you also need the harnesses for them. https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/round-marker-lamps/round-led-truck-trailer-light-with-built-in-flange-2in-12-led-marker-clearance-light-with-13-leds/590/

It never ends. After months of searching I finally tracked down an off the shelf intercooler that would actually fit the 7. Its a tiny but thick thing from a Toyota MR2, but it fits. I totally lucked out and found an ebay store the same day from a guy that was unloading a bunch of lightly used carbon fiber oil cooler ducts. One of which fits nearly perfectly and has duel inlets. I did some initial recon and it will fit once I assemble some new piping. But since I'm intending to use the car for the next few weekends,I'll wait to install till I'm clear of everything. You can start to see how this will be configured, I think it will get enough air flow from the NACA ducts to work. At least shouldn't get worse. http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p74/xcritic/Lotus%207/F0AE5BCB-1F5A-420C-810F-99D1B22C9896_zpscjaujfo3.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p74/xcritic/Lotus%207/30B595B7-DD0C-4EB7-8DEC-42438C4A1DE1_zpsv0sf73or.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p74/xcritic/Lotus%207/DBFD343C-DF4E-412F-8119-AC53D1CBDDF5_zpswoioffyd.jpg

Any details on this event anywhere? I'm only 1.5 hrs from Helen and could make a day of it. Just need to know if there are any plans.
-
Was it dinoc or 3m carbon fiber wrap film? There is a big difference, Dinoc is not intended to be used that way. Its much thicker and does not contour well. Heat should actually be helping not hurting. Thus using a heat gun during application.
-
I missed that as well, this thing has a lot going on.
-
Wow!! I didn't even notice that over the paint scheme.

Yep I did mine myself, and while I had never wrapped a car, I worked in a sign shop for about 5 year working with vinyl so I pretty much knew what to expect. There are a few brands of vinyl you can use. 3m or Oracal are the best, 30' is enough to get the car done with a mistake and will run you about $350 in materials. Took me a little over a day to do the complete car, would have been less if I had someone that could have assisted me. The sides, back, and hood are the easiest. But after that it gets tricky, the rear fenders are not to bad with minor stretching of the vinyl to wrap it. The scuttle was pretty difficult in my case as it turns back into itself to create a lip for the dash panel. Then theres the nose cone, I'm not sure that its possible to completely wrap it in one piece, but I'm pretty sure its not. I ended up cheating and wrapping the top half and then plasti-dipping the bottom half. Check out my photos and you'll see it, but its not noticeable unless your looking. Other than that I used edge molding to protect all the seams from pealing back. You cannot tell the car is wrapped, and most people don't believe it when I tell them. I found a good vinyl cleaner/wax that does a great job keeping it shiny. Ok so pro and cons: Pros: - Cheap - Easy enough to redo - The material is soft enough that it acts as its own clear bra (i still put carbon fiber vinyl on the rear fenders to further protect from rocks). - Wide Variety of colors and textures (some of which are not possible with paint) Cons: - A fix may not be cheap. If a fender or something gets damaged you have to redo the entire panel, i.e. no touch ups. Most companies don't stock the materials and so you may have to place a minimum order or 30' to get what you need. Although I have found companies online that sell by the foot. - Finding someone to do a good job is difficult. Pay close attention to how they deal with seams/edges, as this is first place to go bad and once dirt and water get underneath it goes down hill fast.
-
Doesn't really rattle on mine but you are correct that it doesn't do a whole heck of a lot. It will stop the car from rolling if I lean on it, but if I park it on any sort of hill, it get put into gear also.

Did not think about that, would have to be one hell of a magic rock, but possible I suppose.

Not a ton. Mainly the 2 breather ports have to be adjusted. On the intake side, normally a pvc valve would be inserted into the cover. However the nipple on the new valve cover is further forward so you have to reroute it. In hindsight I should have drilled out the nipple and put a 90 degree fitting in place to simplify things. On the exhaust side the second nipple is on the backside of the cover directly in the way of the ignition coil packs. So that one I drilled out, then tapped the hole to take a 90 degree pipe fitting. Thats pretty much it, this cover only fits the 1.6 miata engine.

Been making some tweaks to the car. If you have checked out the build log, you would have seen my engine looked like this. http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p74/xcritic/Lotus%207/IMG_1178_zpse2c632f4.jpg Well I had done this pretty early on before I knew what the color scheme would be for the car. So last week i decided I wanted to do something a little more fitting for the car. So I tracked done a valve cover for a early 90's Mercury Capri, with a bit of work these can give it a nice vintage look and since the used the motor from the miata they are almost a direct bolt on. I then proceeded to strip, clean, paint, and modify it to work with the miata. So here it is, its not perfect but pretty darn good. http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p74/xcritic/Lotus%207/IMG_1501_zps60e3090d.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p74/xcritic/Lotus%207/IMG_1505_zps6515e602.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p74/xcritic/Lotus%207/IMG_1507_zps81d02f31.jpg
