And now there are 2 Mazda. But before you even ask, I'm never going to put a V8 in it.http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1066937352_07%2007%2007%20247_jpg.jpghttp://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1533147851_LotImg27933.jpg

Forget about engine or head swaps...what about driver swaps?
BobDrye replied to Al N.'s topic in General Sevens Discussion
Mazda: Your seven doesn't need keys. All you have to do is remove the track ball and unless they a programmer your safe. -
Did you hear about the dyslexic guy who tried to commit sucide by jumping out behind a moving bus?

Mazda: Let's see. You said that you were going back to WV in Oct. You also said that you needed to build new control arms. Now if we trade keys, yeda, yeda ,yeda!!!! -

I am willing to share with some. I do think that we need to be careful with some of the cars. The first time that I power shifted from 1st to 2nd I ended up on a curb with broken front suspension. I would also suggest that in some cases we limit the speed or some other input. -
Jeff: I drove the full VIR course with you last night. What was that 3 series that almost kept up with us ? Thanks

Mazda: My seven has 500 lbs on the 215/40/17 AVS front tires @ 18 psi. The camber is set @ -2 deg and 2.5 deg of caster. It could be that I just don't have enough weight on the tires, and enough caster to feel much. Last weekend I never felt the front tires do anything that I didn't want them to do. I just didn't get much feedback from the tires. I raced go-karts from 13-30, was a sprint car mechanic for 3 years, raced pro four for 3 years, and did a little boat racing. I looked at the rear brakes last night and found the bolt that was just a 2 mm to long that was locking up my rear tire. :ack:
-
The first time that went thru some fairly sharp turns I precipitously found that the screws that hold the rear rotors to the hats would hit the steel caliper brackets and lock one rear tire causing me to spin. For the rest of the trip my governor was a clicking sound coming from the rear when we cornered hard. My exhaust is dampened by springs by the rear tire and a bracket broke (I was following my parts supplier, Steve) and it was repaired quickly with a large hose clamp. I must state that I carried over $1000.00 worth of tools and some spare parts. :ack: Saturday night again "Sir Steve" came to the rescue, and taught us how to build a fire. This had to be a trying experience as we were all tired and were consuming strange liquids. The weather reports said that the Sunday morning low would be 45 degrees. I slept on the couch and at first light I looked out and thought that we had experienced fall first snow because there was so much frost on the grass. We had parked our sevens outside and at 9:00 AM there was still frost on them. More too follow!!! :blueangel:

It wouldn't be ostentatious, or mean enough with a hood. Besides that what would I do with all that heat? Real "HOT RODS" don't need hoods. If that's not enough I'll post a picture of the fender less, hoodless, "chopped & channeled 33 Ford that I built in the 70's.

So, tell us a little about yourselves

Welcome! My math shows over 150 points. Post some pictures of your build. -
I just finished working on my seven for the night. No its not finished , but good enough to make the trip. See you at micky dee's @ 10.00. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/346030199_244 DL (canon pics) 012.jpg

I stopped working on it when I purchased the seven frame. It's together, but the transmission isn't in the car. I think that they are one of the best looking cars out there. It actually gets more attention than the seven. The problem with them is, that almost all of them are paper tigers. Most use a converted Corvair transmission, which was ok for a chev 283, but not a 350. After I paint the seven and do some honey dos I'm going to finish putting a 911 turbo 4 speed in it. Mine has a 427 small block in it. .

There are 2 McDonalds at that exit. Are you talking about the north side of I66?

I went to a sporting goods store today and purchased a cold weather hat and gloves. I have a good down parka. I hope that’s enough as I do not like cold. I am feeling good about the car at this point. It has never left me setting. The biggest problem that I have had was an exhaust hanger that broke. After the realization that we are going from summer to winter this weekend, I took notice of the wind @ 70 mph in the seven. It comes from all directions except into my eyes. If I were to make a decision tonight about driving the whole trip I would say it's a go!!!!!!!!!!

AL: Count me in for a Saturday/Sunday type of event that is no more than 300 miles from D.C.

I don't know about aero screens on cars , but on boats their great! You have to position them very carefully.

The other woman is my Manta Mirage. She has a "Rocket Block" which is about 200 lbs bare. She always gets a hand truck.

When I picked up the completed short block ( SR20DET) from the machine shop a few months ago there wasn't enough room to use a hand truck so I just lifted up on to my shoulders. The Rover K series weighs at least 100 lbs less than mine. :ack:

Mazda: Isn't taking off the windshield like adding Steve's 150 hp?
-
The forcast is 45 deg on Sunday morning with a 6 deg spread, so I don't think we will see any rain. The high temperature on Saturday is 57 deg. I'm all new to this. At what temperature does it become uncomfortable in a seven with just a windshield and no other deflectors? Should I wear a helmet? E me your cel @ bobdrye@germanswedishauto.com Don't want to be

I'm posting a link that is quite intresting! http://www.austin-rover.co.uk/index.htm?essaykseriesf.htm QUITE simply the K is a very remarkable engine, the best four around and uniquely suited to motor sport, far more so than the heavy Japanese copies with all their over-engineering and most particularly the 2L Duratec with its archaic bearing cap design. It deserves very much more recognition for the engine that it is, however it has been badly let down by companies trying to tune it, in fact murdered! What is totally amazing is that these companies, particularly the sports car manufacturers have not gone to the Rover design engineers for any help or advice at all.

It not the size of the wand that put the rabbit in the hat , but the skill of the magication. If your leaving the Rotus @ Snowshoe and need a ride back I think you need to do some sucking up on Scott. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

My shop is in Springfield Virginia. We could see the smoke from the Pentagon. It was too close to home. I had not felt that way since Viet Nam. Kind of violated!!!
