  1. On the other hand...I was at the DMV to get my biannual mileage check and the manager came out and asked "Is that a real Se7en?" I replied something like..."Well, if you consider a Caterham real enough, then 'yes'".
  2. Gert, who else has a dura...is Magnus on that trip with you?
  3. Our very own Keith Tanner is all up in that issue...he gave us a heads up about it a few weeks/months back. [EDITED SO THAT THIS THREAD SEEMS LESS INFLAMMATORY. THAT SAID, I STILL WOULDN'T BUY AN ATOM]
  4. Keith T I think is doing it in his Miata this year. Those dates are pretty much out for owners with school age kids...
  5. Stan - you fit in a Seven? Wow. Do you guys know if Chuck sent the stuff out or should I follow up with him...it's a shame if not, I had set aside some notebooks and stuff for you all.
  6. Can we get some of the new folks to share their stories here? I mean, if I can fess up to being off course and slow for my first 4 auto-x runs, some of you new folks can let us know what you drive, do - how you found us, etc. -Al
  7. Guys, thanks for the posts and pix. Wasn't Chuck Spera supposed to meet up with you guys? I had sent some club swag out with him on this assumption...also, exactly how quick is John's Duratec car? And didn't someone else (I think the guy who bought Rex's Yellow car) have that exhaust cracking problem too? I think it happened on his drive home from Arizona. Used that fiberglass tape stuff to patch it up IIRC.
  8. Oi. I sent you a PM...they are sitting packed up on my desk...along with the checks. Will pop them in the mail today or tomorrow. Sorry for the delay all. My day job reared it's head over the past two weeks. -Al
  9. Feel free to PM or email me the link....
  10. HOw about I-95 from Florida to Boston? That would be just about about the worst. blat. ever.
  11. I know this is all a carefully orchestrated plot of Gert''s to swing the next national meet over to the Left Coast....:jester: Great to see you guys hook up with founding club member and longtime forum supporter John C! Thanks for the pix John H. I am jealous, though more inspired to try an east coast version of it sometime....
  12. Jon- Thanks for posting those pix...from what I can see, I was on course, right? Retracing my steps, I think somewhere on the out leg is where I went astray... -Al
  13. Tom definitely tried to take care of me...fault is all my own. I just wish I knew which gate(s) I had missed...regardless, I didn't push that hard at all because of the rain (just listen for my throttle positiion in the vid), couldn't really put power down and when I tried got the back out a tad. I might do Oct 28th if everyone else does (peer pressure)...we'd be in the early session, which would make my wife happy. I'll take my 10 year old to keep me company this time. Wait, I just realized I may have to go to AAPEX/SEMA at that time. Hmmm. I should add that I had a fun time regardless of my times/DNFs and the rain, but also that I kind of put Auto-X into the same category of activities as sporting clays but not the same as fly fishing. I definitely had more fun the second through fourth runs...first run was just getting used to the whole thing. It will be nice to do it in the dry.

  15. John- I appreciate the update...visited your site today too. Whose black 'busa is that at the airport? -Al
  16. Tom-Could you poll your Philly SCCA pals and find out where I was off course? No rush of course, but I'd love to know-Al
  17. Busa-Aren't you interested in coverting others to 'busas vs. car motors? :jester: -Al As the former acting club president, I am very interested in converting people to Se7ens.
  18. You West Coasters are awfully fond of yellow, no? Keep the pix coming! And some "road notes" too...interesting to compare/contrast a real tour vs. the "meet & blat" thing that 7-7-7 was. Maybe in the future, we can scheme a combo...tours leaving from East and West converging on a central location for a 2 or 3 day meet and blat?
  19. FWIW, this weekend I got to see just how light those Caterham Mag wheels are. Tom G. has a set in his trailer and picked one of the fronts up with one hand...from the flat part of the tire...palming it like a basketball. Amazing...
  20. Tough question...I think Laura vacillates between "Waste of time and money" (like yesterday, when I was out the whole day at an auto-x and came back and had to take a shower and defrost before being able to have a conversation) and "Shares my sevangelism enthusiasm". I think the 777 meet pulled her more into the enthusiast camp. Mostly because she saw that "wow, my husband is involved with a good group of people and perhaps played a role in starting something good". She really enjoyed the "non-parade" and meeting everyone too. My kids love the car. We'll see what happens when they become teenagers.
  21. Well, a hot shower and dinner at the local Mexican and I think I'm just about thawed out from the Philly Auto-X. The drive home was similar to my drive down to Skyline last year...not one inch of my body was not soaking wet. I had fun, despite the weather and, according to the scorers, being off course for all 4 runs! I must have totally missed a gate in my mental map or gone backwards on the slaloms — due to the weather and not having an FM radio (they use a tranmitter instead of speakers) didn't know about it until all was said and done. Oh well, that just goes to show that I should have taken an instructor along for my first few runs. I was too nervous as it was. I'll be back at one of these things eventually. Thanks Tom for getting me out there and for letting me work Grid with you. Lance thanks for the laughs as we got wetter and wetter working Grid. And here's to Jack Banha for representing Se7endom!
  22. I said 15s, but that was before there was a street/track option. I will eventually be getting 13s for the auto-x if I don't end up hating it this weekend. :jester:
  23. Tx. Mike.
  24. I could...hate to pay the fee (because the club is after all, a non-prof)
  25. Only one XXL (saving the other XXL for posterity) and one Women's M.
