  2. Quick ? Does any one own a ELEMENT and if they do, do they like it. Or do you have a friend how has one and do they like it. I want to buy the Honda Toaster and just want an opinion. thanx
  3. Just want to know how guy's have liked working with this wonderfull product? What kind of ally are you working with? I'm biased... iwork with it every day at work and ILOVE IT:hurray: A friend of mine who works with steel hates it, he says when you up in steel it is easy to fix, weld, grind, move on, when you have cut too much off of a ally part it's a wee bit harder to fix.

  5. Working in the areospace field and having carbon fiber exp. I can only offer these observations. 1.carbon fiber has become the "NEW" must have, go fast body part in alot of street tuning mags. ie: it's the answer to super light weight and strong. 1a. the C/F used in the aerospace and F1 industry IS NOT the same as you and i buy. (sorry but true) 1b. the cost of pre-preg C/F that must be stored in freezer at a controlled temp, and when taken out has a working time of about 3 hours then must be baged and sealed and then put into a autoclave for a pre determended time and temp cost big $'s. perfect moulds, clean rooms, state of the art autoclaves etc. 2. just like quality cotton, C/F has a thread count and weave. It's all about count and weave BABY 3. Having seen "so called C/F part's on street cars is i'm sorry "A JOKE" it is nothing but cheap pre-peg,that is paper thin' low count, loose weave, and then they put a thick coat of clear on the ext. the make it look cool, you would be better off using a good quality fiberglass or alloy fender, weight gain is a non issue. 4. since you have them on your car you are stuck whith then, here's what you do...... modifiy your fender mounts so you can lower the fender closer to the tire. they all move as one so the gap can be real close. that's for the fronts only, for the rears i would spray some rubberized rock sheild on the inner fender to stop the rocks/stones from hitting the bottom of the fender. sorry about the bitching on street C/F but it is what it is. you can buy a 4x8 sheet of alluminum let's say from the 1100 series for about $50 to $70 or you can buy a 4x8 sheet of 7075 T6 for about $400. THEY BOTH LOOK THE SAME, except one is as hard as a beer can and one is NOT......can you tell the difference? :nonod:

The quotes are great! But what these guy's can't say to the media is "Gilles was one crazy son of a bitch and he would have killed himself sooner or later". Meaning he drove with TOTAL disreguard for personal safety, first place ... you won....................second place you failed (in his mind) I saw him race in Montreal in the rain in the Ferrari where he just kept pushing for the lead, was told by the crew to hold back take 2nd and don't scrap the car, we'll take to points!!!!! Guess what???????????????????? There must have been a comunication problem, him being french and the team being italian, he pushed on! AND WON THE RACE, after the race it was reveiled that #27 had lost 1st ,2nd, and 3rd. as well as haveing no brakes left. Haveing run the track,i have NO idea how he got a F1 car around this very small track with most of his gears gone, no brakes, AND IN THE RAIN BTW the answer to how Gilles got signed, and more importantly why he did what he did is easy ( today) not so easy why back when there was no litttle black box sending instant info to the pits Let's see back "in the day" there was no ECM, no traction control,, no launch control,no lift up-shift....etc... WHY BACK' WHEN THE GUY IN THE CAR DROVE THE CAR, NOT THE CAR DROVE THE GUY Sorry but that's my little bitching bit, and i think that's why F1 is going down, to much techno -no driver input:mad:
  16. This is the story of a young Gilles on his F1 try out with Ferrari. He arrived at the track, the mechanics prepared the car and he was told to go out and get a feel for the track and the car. He did this and then came into the pits and asked for fresh tires. He then when't out again and after a few laps Blew corner 1, flat spotted the tires, came back into the pits, said " i'm sorry i got that corner wrong". The answer that he got was no problem Gilles we have lots of tires use as many as you want". during that afternoon of testing (infront of Enzo no less) Gilles proceeded to screw up every corner on the track and kept coming into the pits for fresh tires, Their was lot's of chatter in the pits about WHO is this French guy, what the hell is he doing here testing, he can't make a set of tires last longer than 4 laps and he's spun the car at every corner at some point. Gilles came back into the pit's after shredding yet another set of tires and asked for a tire change at this point the higher up's were getting pissed ( Enzo said nothing). They told him that this was the last set of tires he could have! He said that was O.K. because he had finally gotten to terms with the car and the track. He said that he now felt confident to set some base lap times ( this is after 2hrs and god knows how much $ in tires). He when't out onto the track and did several laps clean but not super fast.Again he came into the pit's and asked if he could got to the bathroom, the opinon in the pits was well we spent the afternoon changing tires for some rookie that the BOSS wanted to look at in his CAR, he did several laps without spinning or shredding tires but his lap times were average......NEXT!!!! After his piss Gilles came back! and said i'm quoting now " I AM NOW READY TO DRIVE THE CAR"....... After some mumbling between the mucky-mucks and Enzo , Gilles was allowed to take the car out yet again. This time he was told that "You have 5 laps and then the test is over", his responce was " I only need three". He when't and did a easy first lap to get the yet another set of tires warm,What happened next is pure Gilles. Lap 2 he beat the track record, lap three he beat his 2nd lap speed, lap four he beat his third, lap five he beat his fourth lap time and then as was told brought the car back in. Not a scratch on the car, the tires were fine and he had just set the fastesed lap on this track FOUR TIMES. Enzo smiled and left without talking to Gilles. The next day he was signed to a long term contract to Ferrari Later on Gilles would explain his actions at that first test with the (at the time best team) and why he performed so badly yet still got signed.................... The answer is for next time:d

  18. Living in Montreal, Quebec,Canada during his high times brings back lot's of good time's. Jack is 100 percent NOT his father. Gilles drove a race car from his gut. His son drives with his brain, you can see the difference!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
