  2. Thanks for Chet over at locostusa.com, I found out the registration page was not working http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/ack2.gif That problem is fixed now, but the fix was a little complicated. If you notice any performance problems with the forum, please let me know ASAP.
  3. I will ask about NC. Al and I are supposed to meet this Saturday (kids and wives in tow), and we will discuss a bunch of topics related to both the club and the 7/7/7 event. My hope is that starting next week, we can start moving forward with forming the club. One topic is to figure out how much is needed to get this off the ground. Al and I are both committed to pitch in and pay some of the upfront costs. Our current thought is to split the club startup costs based on costs that would be required for the 7/7/7 event (such as insurance), vs. pure club costs (such as incorporation) - so we can keep the event costs reasonable for those who'd like to attend the event, but not be club members. Of course, that will be dictated by terms of the insurance policy regarding non-members attending the event. Anyway, eventhough the topic has quieted down somewhat, we've been collecting input from others (Tony V and JohnCH), which has been of GREAT help. I'll keep everyone posted, and will probably post something over the weekend.
  4. I'll start... Mechanical Engineer by training, but have spent most of my career in programming and developer management. Most of my experience is SQL and .NET. I've had a couple of small businesses - one of which specialized in conversion of cars to Natural Gas and Propane (did about 1000 cars). I have two boys (7 and 4), who run me to the ground everyday, and a patient wife http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/smile5.gif. I live near Washington, DC.
  5. so far, the funniest thing I've heard about my car was from a kid who was helping install the A/C unit for my house. Their multimeter broke, and I went in the garage to get mine for them. He saw the car and did a double-take. I heard him mention to his boss that "I bet it's lighter than a Civic, and faster too."
  6. did you ask for a membership to the club http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/wink5.gif
  7. With the new banner, the links page is now available from any page via the top nav. Several members have sent in links, and I have categorized and posted them on the links page. Thanks.
  8. Thanks Joe. I have to look into the additional $500. Are you going to drag out old yellow to the tail of the dragon next year? We'll be holding an autox as well. How far is that from you?
  9. Cool. I was thinking about rubber boots. Didn't know anybody made them. I got my rod ends from AutoFab race cars in Baltimore. They thought the regular steel rod ends should be fine for my application, as opposed to the high strength (and more expensive) chromoly rod ends. I followed their advice - we'll see how long they last. If they eliminate or greatly reduce axle hop, I'll fork out more for better rod ends if they don't last. My nephew showed me Johnny joints, which I had never heard of (he's into offroading). They look interesting as well, and probably more durable. I opted for the heims, because if they don't solve the hop problem, then link and joint stiffness is not the solution.
  10. The car belongs to Alec. He does not get online often, so give him a ring. His number is in the first post on this thread.
  11. I'm also beefing up my links. I'm hoping after making the links and joints more rigid, I can play with the shock settings if there is still more hop. My rear spring rates are also 175
  12. good to hear. did you just do the rear or the front too? There are no kits for me, so I ordered up some .5" heim joints, 1.125" .095 wall chromoly tubing and grade 8 hardware. Hopefully it will all work. The car should be tons more fun if I can get rid of the axle hop.
  13. another one I had in mind was CATAPLT
  14. Are any of you guys running heim joints on the street? I'm about to do that to my rear suspension. I've heard mixed things about their durability and harshness on the street. It's not a daily driver, and won't be in rain, mud, etc..., so I think it'll be OK. Comments?

  16. I contacted The Company Corporation, which I had used 7 years ago to serve as my agent in DE for my LLC. They recommended we form in one of the states where one of the members live. I gave them a choice among NY, NJ, MO, and MD. NY: She laughed - she said it's a nightmare NJ: She said they require alot of info MO: Requires signatures from 3 officers (same as NJ) MD: No special requirements. The charge $640 for doing all the paperwork for incorporation, basic by-laws, which we'll have to review and modify, which includes the state fees ($240). I'm not tied to them, but had a good experience with them last. Next, I'll look through the IRS site and MD's site and see what's involved. I suspect it's not a whole lot of work, and since I already have a residence here, we don't need a proxy, so we can save $400 and do it directly.
  17. Are there any accountants here? We need some professional advice with setting up the club. I have one, but would prefer a volunteer to keep club costs down. Email me off the list.
  18. No A/C, and won't be adding a cup holder either. Although the center console would be great for keeping hot drinks, um, hot. I love golf, but I'm a hack. Any other golfers in the house?
  19. Is not a good idea http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/nonod.gif Did that on the way to the golf course this morning. I hit a bump, and some froth came out. I was sure my shirt was toast, but instead it all flew to the inside of the windshield. I'll cross that off my list. Then at the golf course, I took my stuff out of the car and turned around to talk and conveniently put my ankle right against the side pipe. It looks very attractive now. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/leaving.gif
  20. All, I've been busy the last few days... First, big thanks to Al for a new banner graphic. As part of incorporating the banner graphic, I had to redo the entire navigation scheme of the site. There is now a new nav bar on top, with the following features: Forums link - gives access to the listing of forum sections, or alternatively, provides a drop down for directly navigating to a particular forum. Search: Allows you to search directly from any page you are on, or "go advanced" for more search options. "Links" gives access to the links page "Other" gives access to misc items such as your settings, calendar, member list, etc. Next round of changes will focus on the home page design. I only have access to IE 6 and FireFox on Windows... I did briefly get a chance to look at this on a Mac, and things seemed OK. The only odd thing I have noticed so far is that when a page loads, you briefly see the menus on the left side before they disappear. Please let me know if you encounter problems, and I will address them as fast as I can. Thanks
  21. All, This excel calculator was sent by JohnCh http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/thumbsup.gif It does have a macro, so you'll get a warning from Excel, and have to enable macros. >http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/GearingComparisonCalculator.xls Thanks.slngsht2006-08-11 10:24:11
  22. All, this spreadsheet was supplied by Michael D. If you have similar programs you'd like to share, let me know, and I can post them up here for reference. Thanks >http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/CornerWeight.xls
  23. Hi Dean, I won't be there (since I don't own a Lotus) and I don't think Al will either, but there are quite a few Lotus 7s on the reservation list. I look forward to any ideas you guys come back with after LOG (the same with suggestions from anybody attending the 7/7/7 event), and if you manage to snag a few more Lotus 7s to join us, that'd be awesome. Thanks.
  24. Sign up if you haven't already. Tapoco is already filled up. There are not many lodging choices that are super close (numbers are listed on the registration page)
  25. for those of you who don't have some type of cold intake device (or your filter sticking out of the hood), have you ever measured your intake air temp?
