One of the guys over at the corvette forum photochopped a NACA duct for me... http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e28/visund/__CC1.jpg Looks decent.

I spoke to Alec yesterday. Seems like a very nice guy. Since there are very few around, and only 1 or 2 change hands every year, it's hard to say. I think the last one on ebay sold for 9K. It all depends on what it needs. I live about 20 minutes from Alec. He said he'll email some pictures to me, so when I get them, I'll upload them here. By the way, welcome to the forum

since my car overheated in the last autox school, I swapped thermostats to 160*, and lowered my fan settings to come on at 190. I also reduced the coolant concentration and added water wetter. Today in bumper to bumper traffic, it eventually reached 230 - but much slower than before, so that's a good sign. While I was keeping an eye on temps, I noticed my intake air temp is sky high (because my filter is right behind the radiator due to packaging constraints). At its peak, my air intake temp at the filter was 190! So, I guess a NACA duct is on my future mod list.

>http://media.putfile.com/EVO-Phase-1-Sunday-July-2nd My car is still handicapped by axle hop, which I plan to do something about in the next few weeks. Other than that, felt pretty good - especially out of the start, and in the slalom. The video is a mix of my car and other cars that were in the class.

while fiddling with the tank install last night, I had the rear up in the air, and noticed that the axle's travel is stopped because my driveshaft is sitting on the frame right at the rear yoke. So I ordered a couple of rubber bumps tonight to install. Have any of the other Rotus owners noticed this? Mine is slightly different, so it could be unique to my car.

Rob, A proper fuel cell, as used in many forms of racing, generally has the following features: An outer shell An inner bladder - this can deform, so in an accident, it won't just puncture when hit. Foam in the tank, which keeps the fuel from just rushing out in the event of a leak (it'll drip out). Eventhough RCI calls mine a "fuel cell", it does not have a bladder, which is a pretty important safety feature - and I have to add the foam myself, which I plan on doing. Hope the info is all correct and it answers your question.

I just bought one from Summit to replace my leaking tank. Fortunately I openned up the filler neck to have a look inside. It had a fair amount of aluminum shavings in it smileys/smiley7.gif[/img]

So much for buying new to make sure it's clean.

Steve, are the source files bigger than the ones you emailed? I can host big files for you temporarily so Al can download. Let me know if that would work.

Here they are. Great pics Steve, do you have a sample picture of your art work you could email me? I wanted to pass it off to this artist who works for me as a programmer. Perhaps he can do something for an online place for you at a reasonable cost. http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/2006-06-05_094141_blue_ridge_7_Small.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/2006-06-05_094204_blue_ridge_6_Small.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/2006-06-05_094219_blue_ridge_3_Small.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/2006-06-05_094309_blue_ridge_2_Small.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/2006-06-05_094328_big_meadows_3_Small.JPG

Sal, I can't think of any shortcuts to what you just described, but I'm no expert on the subject.

All, I spoke with John last night regarding White Post. It appears for insurance reasons, we will not be able to get a tour of the facility. We will still use their lot as the meeting point near Front Royal before heading into Skyline Drive. -Mazda

Sorry, I meant mine requires a cotter pin - in case vibration snaps it loose. I think the ones on other rotus' are the same. something like this may work, but I haven't even looked for them yet. So many other things to do... http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/Images/L/3034.JPG

I don't know, but when I replace mine, I won't be getting the same style ones that I have. Mine require a safety. There are better ones out there.
-
Missed this part of your question... The rear suspension of the rotus comprises of 7 total connections to the axle: 2 Coilover shock connections - these are vertical 2 Links that keep the rear from moving fore and aft 2 torque links that keep the rear from spinning in place as a result of the engine torque 1 panhard link that keeps the rear from moving side to side. I haven't really paid close attention to the rear suspension setup, but that's what I recall from memory.

Steve, so far looks like the weather will be good. I'll have to scramble and fix all the stuff with the Rotus and get her back on the road by Friday. -Cheers

The data from the graph is from an accelerometer that's hooked up to the PC in the dash. This time I did not record engine telemetry off the car because I had so many other problems to work on (fuel, axle hop, etc...). Normally I would capture that too, and do a video overlay. I'm capturing the engine parameters via the OBD-II interface, using hardware by HPTuners.

What a frustrating day... I must have something stuck in my fuel filter, or my pump must be failing. Some of the runs had to be scrapped b/c of fuel starvation. Finally figured out if I shut down for a minute before the run, I can make a clean run. Also had bad axle hop accelerating out of corners - my day ended with a broken panhard rod Managed to nurse her home... now on with the fixes. This vid has my spin on the first afternoon run (Track run in reverse), and one of my better runs. >http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1749421050705320395 &pr=goog-sl Edit... this is the acceleration data (lateral and longitudinal) for the 2nd run in the video. Didn't feel like doing the work to overlay the video... http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/2006-05-29_214533_Gs.JPGslngsht38866.9071990741

I was initially thinking of going with SLNGSHT (MD has 7 character limit), but IF I get one now, it'll probably be FRANKN7 - given what I've done with the car so far.
-
That looks fantastic. Congrats!

jfgw, now that you have the new ride, post up some pics
