Thanks for the feedback. Multiples of speed limit will be a no-go for Skyline. Speedlimit is 35. I think we can do 45-50 in stretches without a problem. Anything higher would be pushing it with cyclists and sight-seers on the road. To me, this is mostly a relaxing scenic drive and a chance to get to know all of you. I'm thinking practically this should be a 1-2 day event as well, but I haven't heard anything from anyone else besides you and Dick. Maybe others will chime in.

John, it's good to know someone else has used them. My battery is currently mounted on top of the passenger side footwell. Engine is a V8, so I have exhaust on both sides, but it exits with a quick 90 from the manifold, and is very low on the car - hopefully it'll be fine.

Their other batteries can be found here: > http://www.odysseybatteries.com/applications/auto.htm#bcigro up

Anybody use Odyssey batteries? They have a full lineup, but the lightest is this one: Small 680 cranking amp battery with metal jacket and SAE automotive terminals. Also available without the metal jacket for low temperature applications. Battery measures 3.11" wide x 7.27" long x 6.67" tall with the metal jacket and weighs 15.4 pounds. http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc680mjt_lg.jpg

Steve, welcome aboard, and Great pic. I can't wait to get out there.

By the way, the MOAB pic is now my desktop background. smileys/smiley1.gif[/img] . We just don't get open stretches of road like that around here.

I looked at the possibility of an extended cruise. Skyline drive connects to the Blue Ridge Parkway, which extends another 460 miles south into the Carolinas, making the total about 580 miles. I'm not sure what the speed limit is on the rest of the Parkway, but Skyline is at 35. Even though we can speed up a little, an extended drive in the park may be tiring. There are parallel roads to the park that we can explore. I haven't heard anything from anyone regarding an extended cruise. For those that can't go on a multiple day cruise, we can plan sections (I would be one of those people... probably doing the northern section - and I think there are at least a couple of folks who prefer meeting up near the south end of skyline, who could go south). The draw back of all this is that we have to go - rain or shine. I need a feel for how the group feels about having the option of a long cruise, but not having a rain date. Also, if we do an extended cruise, I will need someone to plan the southern sections of the cruise.

John, is there an album of all the pics from that trip somewhere? If not, please start a thread and post up what you have. Those are some beautiful pictures there. As soon as I saw this pic, my right foot stomped on the floor smileys/smiley4.gif[/img]

Sugino, did you do all the carbon fiber work yourself? -
As the number of members increases, I'm looking for ways to improve the site. I have thought about dividing up the Tech sections, so that good technical threads can reside there, rather than the General section. I'd like your suggestions on how to organize the Tech section. Initially I had thought about making one for each brand (Lotus, Caterham, Birkin, Locost, Rotus, etc...), but given the variety of construction methods and hardware used, it may be better split by Engine, Suspension, Instrumentation, Body, Wheels & Tires, etc... Having the different sections allows you to subscribe to a particular section (there is a link near the bottom of the page in each section to subscribe/unsubscribe) and receive notification messages for new posts, without getting flooded with emails from the General section. Also, if you have interesting articles about your cars, manufacturers, or general "7" related readings, please email or PM me a link. I will put a separate web page together with those. Please feel free to post up any other thoughts or suggestions as well. Cheers.

I guess you guys haven't seen my car. I won't post a pic here... your cars might run off the screen smileys/smiley36.gif[/img].

Let's just say it's the opposite of the spectrum. All in due time I guess. In the mean time, it's nice to see some REALLY clean examples.

Sugino, what diff and rear uprights did you use in your design? I can't get over the attention to detail

The brake light features (both the flashing brake light, and resetting the counter) sound pretty good. Do you find 15 seconds after you start moving to be kind of long?
-
I like the signaldynamics setup. The lane change mode (press for one second) is a nice feature. C6 vettes have a similar setup... press the turn signal stalk, but don't fully engage it, and let it go. It will blink that side 3 times.

Jerry, Thanks for the pics. The Rotus has a solid axle rear. 2 of them were built with IRS as custom jobs. From what I heard it wasn't an easy conversion. Maybe someday I'll look at that.
-
Jerry, I'm curious about your rear suspension setup. Do you have any info or pictures on it? Also, I'm thinking about going with bigger wheels for more traction, but couldn't find any wide tires in 15" diameter. I was worried going to 17" wheels wouldn't look right, but they look great on your car.

Congrats. Make sure you have your cool shades on before going out in AZ sun

Jerry, I read the article. A very nice writeup. It does say your other toy is a C5. I like your taste smileys/smiley4.gif[/img]

Lordy. That's beautiful!!! This is just a general 7 forum. I have a Rotus, so I seeked other Rotus owners first. Looking forward to your participation. That is one SHINEY Seven smileys/smiley32.gif[/img]

Jerry, Thanks for the props on se7ens.net. I started this site before I found that one. I haven't really pushed it over there. Hopefully this will take off. You mentioned CorvetteForum in your post. Are you a member? I'm 99C5Vert on corvetteforum. I gotta run and play with the kids. I'll read your article as soon as they hit the bed. BTW, did you have any ground or hood clearance problems with the S2000 engine? I've heard that they are pretty tall. -Mazda

All, I've gone through all the emails, and this is the list I've come up with. Folks with the * in front of them have indicated they can not make May 20/21. I think everyone is OK with the June date. I've been talking to John V. regarding a stop at White Post to start the cruise. Since John can't make it on May 20/21, I'm trying to work out another date around that time. I will keep you posted... If you sent me your location, and I missed it in the emails, please update it here, or email me and I'll update the post. Lucas Windshield Wiper System cable drive

I think it's a safe bet to say the wiper system was only installed to pass inspection smileys/smiley36.gif[/img] -
